Tom Hanks is a man of many talents and passions, one of which includes his love and interest in baseball.
Hanks was spotted at the Dodgers¡¯ home opener on Thursday, where he kept score of the game along with his son Colin. He offered proof the next day, taking to Instagram to share his Opening Day scorecard and adding in his caption that "MLB should declare: OFFICIAL & APPROVED! -T. Hanks"
Hanks didn't have to wait long for a response, as MLB's X account was more than willing to play ball, resharing his post in kind: "Tom Hanks, consider this official and approved! -atMLB"
The legendary actor has no shortage of connections to baseball, both in his acting career and personal life.
Of course, Hanks¡¯ most notable baseball connection is his role as Jimmy Dugan in the classic 1992 film ¡°A League of Their Own,¡± in which he manages the Rockford Peaches of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.

You might have also seen Hanks throw out the first pitch in Cleveland¡¯s home opener in 2022. Hanks had his "Cast Away" co-star Wilson on the mound while he threw the first pitch to Larry Doby Jr., the son of the Hall of Famer and AL's first Black player.

Hanks has been very public about his lifelong love of baseball. In a 2020 interview with journalist Graham Bensinger, Hanks shared that he has brought a typewriter to baseball games with him in the past to ¡°keep up a running commentary.¡± He also dove into some of his favorite baseball memories, including seeing Ken Griffey Jr. start a triple play, Willie Mays¡¯ last at-bat and Tom Seaver¡¯s 300th win.
