The Twins announced 16 non-roster invitees to Spring Training on Monday, three days before pitchers and catchers begin workouts in Fort Myers, Fla.
The headliner is 2024 No. 3 prospect Luke Keaschall, who was recently ranked No. 61 in MLB Pipeline¡¯s Top 100 prospects. Keaschall, a 2023 draftee, burst onto the scene in his first full professional season by posting excellent numbers at both High-A Cedar Rapids and Double-A Wichita.
Among the invitees are eight right-handed pitchers, one lefty, two catchers, four infielders and one utility man. Besides Keaschall, the only other prospects on the Twins¡¯ current Top 30 to receive an invitation are right-handers Andrew Morris and Cory Lewis, who ranked sixth and 14th in last year¡¯s midseason Top 30.
Eight of the 16 invited have played in the Majors, perhaps most notably Mike Ford, a veteran first baseman who as recently as 2023 received 251 plate appearances and hit 16 home runs for the Mariners. Ford will be hoping to force his way into the Twins¡¯ first-base competition.
Other potentially familiar names include pitchers Huascar Ynoa, Anthony Misiewicz, Scott Blewett and Randy Dobnak. Blewett and Dobnak both pitched for the Twins in 2024.
Top prospect Walker Jenkins, who is rated as the No. 3 prospect in baseball by Pipeline, was not among the players invited to big league camp. Jenkins spent most of last season in Single-A and High-A before a brief stint at Double-A.
