Honoring Jackie Robinson
Jackie Robinson made history on April 15, 1947, by breaking baseball¡¯s color barrier during his MLB debut. Every year, Major League Baseball and all Clubs pay tribute to Jackie Robinson Day, commemorating his legacy both on and off the field. By wearing "42," baseball honors Jackie¡¯s memory in a powerful and unified way. To learn more about Jackie Robinson, visit JackieRobinson.org or MLB.com/42.
As part of this ongoing tribute, the Diamondbacks celebrate Jackie's impact in breaking barriers in baseball and inspiring necessary change in the sport and our nation. We also recognize and celebrate the incredible men and women in sports, business, and our Arizona communities who are making a positive impact in their respective fields. To learn more about how the D-backs support our local black community, check out D-backs For Change.
We encourage fans to explore educational resources, past celebrations, and the field dedications honoring Jackie¡¯s legacy.
Young athletes are invited to participate in our free JR42 Jr. RBI Outreach Clinic on Saturday, March 29, 2025. This free special clinic allows kids to learn the game while celebrating Jackie¡¯s impact on and off the field.

The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation¡¯s youth field-building program, supported by APS, dedicated the 42nd Diamonds Back Field in the name of Jackie Robinson in Litchfield Park on Friday, June 21, 2019. Dozens of Little Leaguers helped Baxter unveil the scoreboard while wearing No. 42 shirts. We were honored to have Dr. Charles Williams, nephew of the late Hall of Famer, share a few words about what the field meant to the family. In 2019, Jackie Robinson would have turned 100 years old and has been celebrated league-wide to honor his legacy.
