José Luis Tena...Is the nephew of former Major Leaguers Juan Uribe and a distant cousin of Franmil Reyes.

2024

Acquired at the 2024 Trade Deadline from Cleveland...Played in 41 of the Nationals' final 45 games of the season after Aug. 10...Hit in 25 of 41 games with Washington, including 15 multi-hit games...Reached base safely in 12 straight from Sept. 4-16....Went 33-for-113 (.292) with three doubles, three home runs, 11 RBI vs. right-handed pitching...Produced a 49.2 hard hit percentage in his 44 games in the Major Leagues...Hit .287 with 21 doubles, two triples, 18 home runs, 68 RBI, 34 walks, 15 stolen bases and 60 runs in 100 games in Triple-A...At the time of the trade from Cleveland, led their Minor League system with 110 hits and ranked in home runs (second, 17), RBI (third, 63), extra-base hits (fourth, 36) and batting average (fourth, .298).

2023

Spent the majority of the season at AA Akron, playing 81 games, before getting promoted to Columbus on Aug. 2 for one game...Was called up to the Major League Level on Aug. 4 and made his debut on August 5th, entering the game as a pinch runner and playing the remainder of the game at shortstop (first stint, Aug. 4-14)...Ended the season with a .274 (101-for-368) with 25 doubles, eight home runs, 48 RBI and a .777 OPS in 96 combined games at AA Akron and AAA Columbus...Recorded a .350 (21-for-60) batting average with four home runs and 11 RBI for in 15 games for Columbus...Hit safely in 13 of those 15 games for the Clippers, including a 10-game hit streak from August 17-29 when he hit .405 (17-for-42) with three home runs, seven RBI and a 1.206 OPS...Was with Cleveland to end the year, appearing in 15 games after second Sept. 1 recall to finish out the year...Had eight total starts (6 SS, 1 3B, 1 2B)...Recorded his first Major League hit on Aug. 10, driving in the game’s opening run on an RBI-single in a 4-3 victory over Toronto...His .274 (101-for-368) avg. was fourth-highest in the player development system...Owned a .337 (35-for-104) batting average against left-handed pitching, compared to a .250 (66-for-264) mark against righties at the Minor League level.

2022

Spent most of the season at Double-AA Akron before finishing up the last week at AAA Columbus, finished second in the Guardians organization in hits (143), tied third in total bases (224), third in runs (81) and tied fourth in doubles (27)…Among Eastern League leaders he led the league in hits (136) was tied second in runs (74) and tied fourth in total bases (212)… Promoted to Columbus on Sept. 21, was 7-for-15 with seven runs over his last four games...Batted .327 (37/113) off LHP for the season with a slash line of .350/.478/.828…Doubled in six straight games, May 18-24…Had nine games of at least three hits...After the season played for Estrellas in the LIDOM (DR winter league), batting .259 (36/139) with five 2B, one 3B, two HR and 16 RBI in 36 games.

2021

Made the jump from rookie ball in 2019 to High-A in 2021, spending the entire season at Single-A Lake County...At 20 years of age was 2.4 years under the league average age of 22.4...Led the team in virtually every offensive category, finishing fourth in the Cleveland system in hits (116) and total bases (193) and tied for fifth in homers (16)...Among High-A Central leaders, he was tied for second in hits, tied for third in doubles (25), fourth in total bases, fifth in extra-base hits (43) and sixth in average (.281)...Named a Minor League Rawlings Gold Glove recipient (SS) following the season... Opened the year with three 3-hit games over the first eight games of the year, including a 2 HR, 4 RBI performance on May 14 vs. Ft. Wayne...Hit at least .262 with a .700 OPS or above over every month of the season...Hit six homers over a 10-game span, August 1-13, and had three games of three extra-base hits... The left-handed hitter hit .295 (26-for-88) off LHP with 11 extra-base hits and an OPS of .871...Hit .330 (32-for-97) with RISP and .323 (53-for-164) with men on base... Did not play due to the cancelled Minor League season...Named Cleveland No. 26 prospect entering 2021 (MLB Pipeline).

2019

Finished fifth in the Arizona Rookie League in hits (62), tied for 7th in triples (6) and 10th in batting average (.325)... After the season was named the 15th-best prospect in the Arizona League according to Baseball America.
