Brewers unveil Uecker jersey patch for '25
MILWAUKEE ¨C The Brewers included a touch of Bob Uecker¡¯s signature style in the uniform patch they¡¯ll wear throughout the 2025 season to honor their late, legendary broadcaster.
The patch, unveiled Monday morning, has Uecker¡¯s signature over a baseball that¡¯s circled by a ring of plaid, meant to conjure the colorful sportscoats that Uecker wore for many of his 100 or so appearances on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, and in Miller Lite television ads. Those gigs helped to make Uecker a household name far beyond Milwaukee, where he was beloved as the Brewers¡¯ radio broadcaster for 54 years until his passing last month.
¡°We miss Bob every day, and all the more as we approach our first season without him at our side,¡± said Brewers president of business operations Rick Schlesinger. ¡°Ueck was a great friend to all of us. He was a fixture at the ballpark and in our lives. We cannot fill the hole that his absence has created, but the jersey patch will be a way to honor his memory whenever we take the field.¡±
The Brewers will wear the patch beginning with their Feb. 22 Cactus League opener against the Reds at American Family Fields of Phoenix.
It¡¯s the first in a series of steps to honor Uecker this year. Another will come sometime this summer, when the team hosts a public celebration of life at American Family Field in Milwaukee. The team is working with Uecker¡¯s family to schedule and plan that event and said details would be announced later this spring.
