GLENDALE, Ariz. ¨C The Chicago White Sox have claimed right-handed pitcher Owen White off waivers from the New York Yankees. To make room for White on the 40-man roster, the White Sox placed left-handed pitcher Ky Bush on the 60-day injured list.
White, 25, was designated for assignment by the Yankees on February 11 after being claimed off waivers from Cincinnati on February 5. He was acquired by the Reds from Texas on January 6 in exchange for cash considerations and designated for assignment on January 29.
White, 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, spent most of the 2024 season with Class AAA Round Rock in the Rangers organization, going 2-8 with a 5.64 ERA (62 ER/99.0 IP) in 29 games (14 starts). He also made his first three major-league appearances over two stints with Texas, allowing eight runs in 3.0 IP.
White has gone 19-16 with a 4.37 ERA (157 ER/323.1 IP) and 327 strikeouts in 78 games (61 starts) over four minor-league seasons (2021-24) after being selected by Texas in the second round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft.
Bush, 25, underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery on February 12.
With the moves, the White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
