Bryce Harper went all in on UCLA for his tribute to Jackie Robinson
Jackie Robinson is obviously best known for breaking baseball's color barrier with the Dodgers in 1947. But, before he embarked on his Hall of Fame career as a professional baseball player, he was a four-sport star, playing baseball, basketball, football and track at UCLA. While he was a national champion in the long jump, he showed less talent on the baseball field, hitting just .097 in his only season on the team.
Nevertheless, Bryce Harper decided to pay tribute to Robinson's days as a Bruin for Monday night's game against the Mets, starting with some simple -- yet elegant -- blue and gold cleats.
And getting a little flashier up top with batting gloves and an aggressively UCLA-themed arm sleeve.
By wearing No. 42, every player paid tribute to Robinson's career and legacy for Jackie Robinson Day on Monday, but Harper took that a step further by reaching all the way back to his college days.
