When the Astros traded for Justin Verlander, they didn't just acquire a frontline starter -- they also added one of the most well-known fans in baseball. Verlander is engaged to model Kate Upton, and during Verlander's days on the Tigers, she was never shy about cheering on (and occasionally mocking) her All-Star partner in crime.
However, with Verlander making his Astros debut on Tuesday night against the Mariners, a hat change was in order. New headgear in tow, Upton traveled to Seattle to watch him pitch:
Verlander made sure that Upton's trip wasn't a waste, as he spun six innings of one-run ball, striking out seven and earning the win as the Astros triumphed, 3-1.
We can only hope that the social media prowess of Upton and Verlander will continue as well.
