Rajai Davis awkwardly faceplanted into home plate but was somehow safe anyway

Indians outfielder Rajai Davis is known for his speed. It's not uncommon to see him make the highlight reels for great defensive plays and his solid-enough-to-inspire-awe ability on the basepaths. 
He's been known to do things like this: 

In the fourth inning of Monday's game against the Reds at Progressive Field, though, Davis added to his legacy with probably one of the more awkward slides into home plate that you'll ever see.
Trying to score from first on a single to right-center off the bat of Jason Kipnis, Davis was initially called out at the plate due to his ... crash/slide into home. After a replay review, however, the call was overturned after video evidence showed that yes, his late slide/fall helped him avoid the tag: 

That's ... one way to score a run, Rajai. 
After the game, Indians manager Terry Francona raved about Davis' slide/tumble when speaking with MLB.com's Jordan Bastian: 
"Rajai wanted to slide, but he got his feet mixed up. He actually did a great job touching the plate. Such a heads up job. … That was a big play in the game."
