Ryan Raburn singles on a checked swing, proves you should always believe in yourself

When he came in to pinch-hit in the ninth inning of the Rockies' 7-2 win over the Mets on Saturday night, Ryan Raburn taught everyone watching in the stands at Citi Field and on the couch at home a very important lesson: Always believe in yourself, even when you're not really trying.
Because you never know when a checked swing will result in a fair ball.
It appeared that Raburn had no intention of hitting that pitch from Antonio Bastardo, as he hesitated for a moment at the plate after checking his swing, likely thinking the ball would dribble foul. But the ball landed fair, far enough down the first-base line to give him a single despite his delay in leaving the batter's box. In the process, we hope Raburn learned that there's no room for self-doubt at the plate. Every pitch can result in a hit if you just believe in yourself.
OK, maybe not every pitch.
