Every now and then a player surprises with an incredible individual performance in a game, setting team records along the way.
The Angels have had those kinds of games from superstars but also from unheralded players as well. Here¡¯s a look at the Top 5 individual performances in a game by a hitter in Angels history:
1. Garret Anderson -- Aug. 21, 2007, vs. Yankees
Anderson became just the 13th player in Major League history to record 10 RBIs in a game when he accomplished the feat in an 18-9 win over the Yankees at Angel Stadium. He went 4-for-6 with two homers -- a grand slam and a three-run blast -- and two doubles. Most impressively, Hall of Famer Mike Mussina started the game for the Yankees and Anderson ripped a two-run double off him to start things off in the first inning. He helped chase Mussina from the game in the second, when he smacked an RBI double to score Vladimir Guerrero as part of a five-run rally. Anderson's three-run shot came in the third off Edwar Ramirez, and he capped his incredible game with a grand slam off lefty Sean Henn in the sixth. He had a chance to add more in the eighth with runners at the corners and two outs, but he grounded out to shortstop.
2. Dave Winfield -- April 13, 1991, at Twins
The Hall of Famer had his best game in his 18th season, going 5-for-6 with three homers and six RBIs in a 15-9 win while setting the club record of 15 total bases, which still stands. The Minnesota native was 39 at the time but was incredible in his return to the Metrodome, homering in the first, third and fifth innings. He had chances to add to his home run total but settled for a double in the sixth, a groundout in the eighth and an RBI single in the ninth. Winfield said after that it was the best game of his storied career.

3. Freddie Patek -- June 20, 1980, at Red Sox
As the shortest player of his era, Patek wasn't known for his power -- he hit a total of 41 homers in his 14-year career -- but it all came together for him in a 20-2 rout over the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Patek, who was listed at 5-foot-5, smacked three homers against the Red Sox, becoming just the second shortstop to ever accomplish the feat at the time, joining Hall of Famer Ernie Banks. Patek set the club record for total bases with 14, which was later passed by Winfield. The three-time All-Star went 4-for-6 with seven RBIs and doubled in his first at-bat. He homered off Dick Drago in the third and fifth innings and added another in the eighth off Jack Billingham but struck out in the ninth. He was in his 13th season and finished the year with five homers and 34 RBIs in 86 games.
4. Lee Thomas -- Sept. 5, 1961, at Athletics
In the second game of a doubleheader at Kansas City's Municipal Stadium, Thomas went 4-for-6 with three homers and eight RBIs in a 13-12 loss. Thomas had 13 total bases in the game, and the eight RBIs are tied for the third most in Angels history. Thomas hit a solo shot in the third, a grand slam in the sixth and a three-run homer in the eighth. He also singled in the first inning. Notably, Thomas had an unforgettable day at the plate in the doubleheader, going 9-for-11, becoming one of just eight players with nine hits in a twin bill.
5. Vladimir Guerrero -- June 2, 2004, vs. Red Sox
Guerrero¡¯s best game with the Angels came during his 2004 AL MVP campaign, as he went 4-for-4 with two homers and nine RBIs in a 10-7 win at Angel Stadium. The nine RBIs in a game ranks second in team history behind Anderson's 10. The most impressive part of Guerrero's performance was that it came against Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez. Guerrero smacked a two-run homer off him in the first and added a two-run double in the third. He brought home a run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth and the Red Sox brought in Mike Timlin to face him in the sixth. But Guerrero crushed a three-run homer to give the Angels a one-run lead. He provided some insurance with an RBI single in the seventh off Keith Foulke.
