DETROIT -- Left-hander Reid Detmers emerged as the Angels' top prospect, while outfielder Brandon Marsh and right-hander Sam Bachman entered MLB Pipeline's Top 100, according to the midseason MLB Pipeline rankings released Thursday.
With a strong showing in the Minor Leagues and a rapid ascent to the Majors, Detmers is now ranked as the No. 24 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline. Marsh, who is also in the Majors, moved up to No. 43, while Bachman, the No. 9 overall selection in the 2021 Draft, is ranked No. 96. Bachman is at Class A Advanced Tri-City and has made two starts, allowing two runs over four innings.
Detmers is coming off his first Major League win on Sunday, allowing one run over six innings against the Astros after struggling a bit against the Dodgers and A¡¯s in his first two starts.
¡°Each one has gotten better,¡± said Angels manager Joe Maddon. ¡°He¡¯s still a work in progress. There are still parts of his delivery that I think he could iron out. But the makeup is as advertised. The stuff is as advertised.¡±

Marsh has played in 31 games with the Angels this season, batting .216/.296/.278 with six doubles and three RBIs. But he's been faring better recently, hitting .385 with two doubles over his last seven games.
¡°He¡¯s been better and he¡¯s going to continue to get better,¡± Maddon said. ¡°This kid¡¯s really good. He is going to continue to improve this year into next and beyond. There's nothing not to like about him.¡±
After those top three prospects, outfielder Jordyn Adams, shortstops Kyren Paris, Jeremiah Jackson and Arol Vera, lefty Ky Bush, outfielder Alexander Ramirez and shortstop Denzer Guzman rounded out the club's Top 10 prospects.
And among their recent Draft picks, 2021 third-rounder Landon Marceaux is ranked No. 12 and 12th-rounder Mason Albright is No. 17. Neither has made their pro debut yet.
The Angels selected a pitcher with all 20 of their picks in the 2021 Draft and Maddon is excited to see how they turn out.
¡°I'm really eager to see this newest class that's coming up right now, the pitchers primarily,¡± Maddon said. ¡°I saw a lot of young kids in Spring Training, but we need to pitch. It's as simple as that. If we¡¯re going to be the better teams, you have to pitch better than that.¡±
