MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers reached agreements with three of their picks from this month's Draft -- Freddy Zamora (second round), Zavier Warren (third round) and Joey Wiemer (fourth round) -- on Friday.

Zamora, a slick-fielding shortstop from the University of Miami, agreed for $1.15 million, according to MLB.com¡¯s Jim Callis, just below the slot value of $1,370,400. And Wiemer, a power-hitting outfielder from the University of Cincinnati, signed for $150,000, per Callis. The value for that slot was $473,700.
The Brewers have not confirmed any of the agreements, but Wiemer shared photos via social media of him signing his first professional contract.
According to a report from the Detroit News, Warren, a catcher from Central Michigan, agreed to terms for slightly under the slot value of his pick, which was $637,600.
That leaves first-round pick Garrett Mitchell and fifth-round pick Hayden Cantrelle still unsigned. Cantrelle appears close; the University of Louisiana-Lafayette infielder was in Milwaukee this week to undergo a physical exam and is expected to sign for below slot, according to a source.
If the reports so far are accurate, the Brewers would have excess funds in their Draft pool to sign Mitchell, an outfielder from UCLA drafted 20th overall (slot value $3,242,900). Brewers president of baseball operations David Stearns didn¡¯t address specific cases when he took questions from reporters on Friday, but he did say the team anticipated signing all of its Draft picks before the Aug. 1 deadline.
