Hammerin' Hank's great-nephew taken in NFL Draft
The great Hank Aaron passed away in 2021, but his legacy in the sports world persists -- even on the football field.
AaronĄ¯s great-nephew, Kimani Vidal, was selected in the sixth round (No. 181 overall pick) of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday.
Vidal, a running back out of Troy University in Troy, Ala., had a productive junior season in 2023. He ran for 1,661 yards and 14 touchdowns while averaging 5.6 yards per carry last season, earning him an NFL opportunity with the Chargers. Vidal grew up in Marietta, Ga., not far from Atlanta, where Aaron spent nine seasons of his Hall of Fame career.
With 33 rushing touchdowns over his four seasons at Troy, itĄ¯s safe to say Vidal is a home-run hitter on the football field -- and given who his great-uncle is, maybe thatĄ¯s not surprising.
