They say everything is bigger in Texas, and it looks like that includes Jac Caglianone Texas League homers.
In just his second game for Northwest Arkansas, the Royals¡¯ No. 1 prospect launched his first Double-A homer onto the street outside of ONEOK Field on Saturday night in the Naturals' 9-5 win. The towering long ball landed at a reported 464 feet and was scorched at 116 mph off the bat.
Success in Double-A has come quickly for the 2024 sixth overall Draft pick. The first rocket of Caglianone¡¯s Double-A career came in the first at-bat of his second game at the level, having collected an RBI single in his Naturals debut Friday.
While it's his first official in-game homer of 2025, the 70-grade power from MLB¡¯s No. 21 prospect has been on full display for the past few weeks. During Spring Training, Caglianone posted a .500/.609/1.167 slash line with three home runs and 21 total bases in just 18 at-bats for Kansas City in Cactus League play. Even on the Minor League back fields, his swing was locked in.
Flair for the dramatics in regards to home runs is nothing new for Caglianone, as it's been almost exactly one year ago to the day that the 22-year-old started an NCAA record-tying run by homering in nine consecutive games for the University of Florida from April 6 to April 19. He ended his collegiate career with a school record 75 home runs, and as the only player in SEC history to deliver back-to-back campaigns with at least 30 roundtrippers.
While Caglianone came into professional baseball as a two-way player, there is no doubt that the future of one of game¡¯s top prospects at the plate looks brighter than ever.
