Lefty Quijada's new deal with Angels includes '26 option

The Angels on Tuesday agreed to a one-year, $1.075 million contract with left-hander José Quijada for the 2025 season, with a $3.75 million club option for 2026.
Quijada, 29, appeared in 22 games in 2024 and posted a 2-2 record and a 3.26 ERA (19 1/3 IP ¨C 7 ER) with 24 strikeouts. He also held opponents to a .190 average (12/63), and recorded seven holds. Quijada logged 17 scoreless outings in 22 appearances, including a career-high 12 consecutive games without giving up a run from August 14 to September 18.
Across his five seasons with the Angels, Quijada has totaled 106 appearances in relief with 128 strikeouts and seven saves. In 2023, he represented Venezuela during the 2023 World Baseball Classic. Prior to joining the Angels, he spent his rookie season with Miami in 2019 after originally signing with the Marlins as an international free agent in 2013.
