Unfortunately, hitting a runner with a throw is only an out in Wiffle ball

MINNEAPOLIS -- Most any child who¡¯s played backyard Wiffle ball has had the experience of having a ball thrown at them on the basepaths. Mark Vientos just wasn¡¯t expecting it in the middle of a Major League Baseball game.
When Vientos hit an RBI double in the sixth inning of the Mets¡¯ game against the Twins on Monday, right fielder Matt Wallner fired a relay throw to second baseman Willi Castro, who seemed to have a potential play at the plate. Castro instead threw the ball softly to second, where it bounced and hit Vientos square on the backside. No one else was anywhere close to the bag, but Vientos seemed shocked the ball had come his way and didn¡¯t advance.
"I was super confused. I didn't know what to do. I was like, 'What do I do next?'" Vientos said.
Three Twins finally converged on the ball as Vientos laughed and celebrated at second base. His reaction was mostly one of confusion, leading to some good-natured ribbing from his teammates back in the dugout.
The Mets broadcast was equally befuddled by the play and got a kick out of the slow-mo replay of the ball finding Vientos.
"Every day, this game never ceases to amaze me," Vientos said, perfectly summing up the bizarre throw.
