Ever wanted to see how your swing stacks up against MLB All-Stars?
With Swing Match, powered by Diamond Kinetics, you can see which All-Star player has the most similar swing motion to yours. It¡¯s easy: Diamond Kinetics¡¯ SmartMotion tech uses your phone camera to capture your motion and find the perfect matching swing.
Swing Match is just one of the exciting features offered by Diamond Kinetics, which has been a big part of PLAY BALL Weekend -- a worldwide initiative to inspire participation in baseball and softball.
Diamond Kinetics¡¯ ¡°Diamond Decisions¡± mini games are now available in the MLB Play section of the MLB app. Users can play a variety of fun games in which they predict the outcome of a real Major League play, including identifying players based on their silhouettes or correctly guessing whether MLB stars flipped their bats after hitting home runs. Players can also guess if homers hit to right field by the Giants wound up as ¡°Splash Hits¡± into McCovey Cove or estimate the exit velocity or distance of real batted balls.

Diamond Kinetics, which took part in Thursday¡¯s PLAY BALL Weekend kickoff event with Mets star Francisco Lindor in Times Square, offers a variety of baseball and softball technology. DK¡¯s bat sensor lets users track metrics like barrel speed, acceleration and attack angle. The bat sensor includes a magnetometer, accelerometer and gyroscope to capture pre-contact swing data and send it to the user¡¯s iOS device via Bluetooth. The Diamond Kinetics Swing Score -- a single comprehensive number generated for every 100 swings that evaluates a hitter¡¯s swing performance -- helps batters visualize their progression.
¡°Diamond Kinetics is the Trusted Youth Training Platform of MLB, and our DK app provides a fun and exciting way for youth baseball and softball players to engage with the game and have fun while getting better at the same time,¡± said David Lewanda, director of software engineering for Diamond Kinetics.
Lewanda said DK¡¯s Swing Match isn¡¯t limited to the app -- there¡¯s now an on-site experience at both PNC Park in Pittsburgh (where Diamond Kinetics is based) and Oracle Park in San Francisco. In addition, the Red Sox, Cardinals, White Sox, Nationals and Marlins -- plus seven Minor League clubs -- are using the on-site app as part of PLAY BALL Weekend.
The Diamond Kinetics app includes recommended activities from MLB hitters Byron Buxton, Will Benson, Jarred Kelenic and more. DK has even partnered with Marucci to produce the CATX Smart, billed as the ¡°world¡¯s first true smart bat¡± with a bat sensor permanently embedded in the knob.
In addition to MLB, Diamond Kinetics technology has been used by USA Baseball, USA Softball, Perfect Game and more.
