Players of the Week: Ohtani, Schwarber
Shohei Ohtani and Kyle Schwarber have been named MLB¡¯s Players of the Week presented by Chevrolet.
Ohtani's continued stellar two-way performance for the Angels made him the American League Player of the Week, and Schwarber took home National League Player of the Week honors after a huge slugging weekend for the Nationals.
Not only did Ohtani hit six home runs as a batter during the week, he also picked up his third win as a pitcher after throwing six innings of one-run baseball with five strikeouts against the Tigers.
Ohtani's six homers led the AL for the week, and he now is tied for the Major League lead with 23 on the season. He also picked up his 10th stolen base of the season during the week. As a pitcher, his ERA now stands at 2.70 after 10 starts.

This is Ohtani's third career Player of the Week Award but first since his rookie season in 2018. The Angels also had a Player of the Week representative last week, when Max Stassi took home the honor.
It's the first career Player of the Week Award for Schwarber. The most recent Nationals player to win the award was Juan Soto last August.
