TAMPA, Fla. -- Spencer Jones says his offseason swing changes have the Yankees prospect feeling ¡°dangerous¡± heading into his fourth pro season, and the big-swinging outfielder will be a prime attraction as Major League Baseball holds its second annual Spring Breakout games.
¡°I¡¯m excited to be here, because there¡¯s so many cool guys and great players, great instructors,¡± Jones said earlier this spring. ¡°My job is to keep getting better at what I can do, just keep stacking up the days and take advantage of every day I¡¯m in this locker room with all of these guys.¡±
The Bombers¡¯ lineup is slated to include infielder George Lombard Jr., who has been opening eyes in camp with a lively bat and slick defense. The 19-year-old Lombard is the youngest player in big league camp, and has been rated as the Yanks¡¯ No. 2 prospect by MLB Pipeline.
¡°Watching guys at the highest level go to work every single day has helped me a lot,¡± Lombard said. ¡°Watching how they work, their routines, how consistent they are and what it takes to succeed at that level ¡ it¡¯s just understanding how things work with baseball IQ, game feel, just helping to slow the game down.¡±
