Athletics recall LHP Lopez from Las Vegas; option RHP Alexander to Las Vegas

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Athletics recalled left-handed pitcher Jacob Lopez from Triple-A Las Vegas and optioned right-handed pitcher Jason Alexander to Las Vegas, the club announced today.

Lopez is 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA and .594 opponents OPS in three games, including two starts, with the Aviators. He has held the opposition to a .200 batting average and is tied for third in the Pacific Coast League with 22 strikeouts. The 27-year-old left-hander was acquired by the A’s from Tampa Bay with Jeffrey Springs on Dec. 14, 2024. Lopez is 1-0 with a save and a 4.78 ERA in eight games, two starts, in two seasons in the majors with the Rays (2023-24).

Alexander was recalled from Las Vegas on April 7 and compiled a 7.36 ERA in three relief appearances. He did not allow a run in two of his three outings, but yielded four runs on four hits and a walk in 1.2 innings last Sunday against New York (NL). Alexander is 0-0 with a 2.70 ERA in one start with Las Vegas.
