Pirates announce 13 non-roster invitees
The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced the following 13 players will attend Major League camp as non-roster invitees.
Abrahan Gutierrez (C) ¨C Hit a combined .241 (45-for-187) with 10 doubles, one triple and 21 RBI in 49 games last season between Double-A Altoona, the Florida Complex League Pirates (rehab) and Low-A Bradenton (rehab)...Attended big league camp as a non-roster invitee last year with the Pirates, where he was the starting catcher in the Spring Breakout game against the Orioles...Was acquired by the Pirates from Philadelphia on July 31, 2021, in exchange for left-handed pitcher Braeden Ogle.
Carson Fulmer (RHP) ¨C Went 0-5 with a 4.15 ERA (86.2ip/40er), 81 strikeouts and .246 batting average against in 37 appearances (eight starts) last year with Los Angeles (AL)...Recorded a 3.88 ERA (48.2ip/21er) in 29 appearances out of the bullpen last year with the Angels...Has gone 7-15 with a 5.38 ERA (227.1ip/136er) in 114 appearances (24 starts) in the big leagues with the Chicago White Sox (2016-19), Detroit (2020), Baltimore (2021), Cincinnati (2021) and the Los Angeles Angels (2023-24)...Was claimed off waivers by Pittsburgh from Detroit in 2020 but did not appear in a game.
Darick Hall (INF) ¨C Spent 2024 with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he ranked third among all Phillies minor leaguers in RBI (72) and tied for fourth in home runs (16)...Was originally selected by Philadelphia in the 14th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft...Has gone 43-for-190 (.226) with nine doubles, one triple, 10 home runs and 19 RBI in 60 games in the big leagues in 2022-23.
Bryce Johnson (OF) - Began the 2024 season with El Paso (PadresĄŻ AAA), where he hit .288 (75-for-260) with 15 doubles, five triples, four home runs, 34 RBI, 20 stolen bases, a .407 OBP, .431 slugging percentage and .838 OPS in 74 games...Also hit .206 (13-for-63) with a pair of doubles and four RBI in 47 games last year with San Diego...Was originally selected by San Francisco in the sixth round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft...Made his big league debut in 2022 with the Giants, but spent most of the year with Triple-A Sacramento, where he had a career-high tying 31 stolen bases.
