Rosters announced for 2022 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game

Rosters for the 2022 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, which will be played at 7:00 p.m. (ET)/4:00 p.m. (PT) on Saturday, July 16th at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, were announced earlier today by Major League Baseball. An introductory list of eight names were announced yesterday on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM, and the complete rosters were unveiled earlier this afternoon on MLB Network’s “MLB Central.”

The 2022 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game features the top Minor League prospects competing as part of the first-ever All-Star Saturday. The Futures Game will once again feature a National League vs. American League format, which was introduced in 2019 following 20 years of U.S. vs. World matchups. The game, which is scheduled for seven innings, will be live on Peacock and SiriusXM, and MLB Network will re-air the contest beginning at 9:00 a.m. (ET)/6:30 a.m. (PT) on Sunday, July 17th. MLB Network will produce the telecast with Scott Braun (play-by-play), Yonder Alonso (analyst), Jim Callis (analyst) and A.J. Andrews (reporter). Last year in Colorado, the NL claimed an 8-3 victory, led by Chicago Cubs prospect Brennen Davis, who earned MVP honors after homering twice in the contest.

Two-time World Series Champion with the Los Angeles Dodgers and World Series-winning manager Mike Scioscia will manage the NL Futures Team, while fellow World Series Champion and 2007 NL Most Valuable Player Jimmy Rollins will lead the AL Futures Team.

Major League Baseball, in conjunction with MLB Pipeline, Baseball America and the 30 Major League Clubs, selected the 25 players currently on each team. Each Major League organization is represented and players from all player development leagues were eligible to be selected. The teams feature a combined 13 former first round picks (nine on NL; four on AL); one CB-A selection; six second round picks; three third round picks; two fourth round selections; three fifth round picks; one 10th round pick; two 11th round picks; and one 23rd round selection.

The top two selections in last summer’s MLB Draft – Pittsburgh’s Henry Davis (first overall pick) and Texas’ Jack Leiter (second overall selection) are included on their respective league’s rosters. In addition, three of the top nine selections from the 2020 Draft are featured among the selections, including Seattle’s Emerson Hancock (sixth overall), San Diego’s Robert Hassell III (eight overall) and Colorado’s Zac Veen (ninth overall).

Four players who have participated in Development Programs led by MLB and USA Baseball are featured on the Futures rosters, including Darren Baker (Breakthrough Series); Taj Bradley (Breakthrough Series, Elite Development Invitational, Hank Aaron Invitational, Dream Series); Robert Hassell III (High School Home Run Derby); and Jordan Walker (Breakthrough Series, Dream Series, High School Home Run Derby).

The two squads combined for 17 internationally-born players representing six different countries and territories outside the 50 United States. The Dominican Republic is represented by six players, followed by five players from Venezuela, three players from Cuba, and one apiece from Australia, Canada and Cura?ao.

Two players – Boston’s Brayan Bello and San Francisco’s David Villar – were promoted to their respective Major League teams this week, and if necessary, will be replaced in the coming days in addition to any other players who may be injured or promoted to the Majors.

The Minor League Baseball Umpires who will work the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game are Hardlen Acosta (Eastern League), Trevor Dannegger (Texas League), James Jean (Southern League) and Dexter Kelley (Southern League).

Among those serving as coaches at the Futures Game are former Major League All-Stars Adrián Beltré, Eric Davis, Shawn Green, Dan Haren, Edwin Jackson, Ken Landreaux and Gary Matthews, Jr. The full coaching staffs for the NL and AL Futures Teams, led by Scioscia and Rollins, respectively, are as follows:
