Twins Add Adams and Raya to Major League Roster
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN ¨C The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have added right-handed pitchers Travis Adams and Marco Raya to their major league 40-man roster.
Adams, 24, pitched at both Double-A Wichita and Triple-A St. Paul in 2024, combining to go 5-9 with a 3.90 ERA (127.0 IP, 55 ER), 35 walks, 118 strikeouts and a .234 opponent batting average in 26 games (22 starts); he posted a 24.5% strikeout rate in 22 games (19 starts) at Wichita and his 118 strikeouts overall ranked third among all Twins farmhands. The 6-foot-1, 197-pound right-hander was named Texas League Pitcher of the Week and Twins minor league Pitcher of the Week in late August. The Palm Springs, California native was selected by the Twins in the sixth round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft out of California State University, Sacramento and has advanced five levels through the Twins organization over the last four seasons.
Raya, 22, spent most of last season with Double-A Wichita, going 3-4 with a 4.27 ERA (92.2 IP, 44 ER), 44 walks and 99 strikeouts in 24 starts for the Wind Surge. He was promoted to Triple-A St. Paul in mid-September and made one start for the Saints, pitching 5.0 scoreless innings on September 20 vs. Indianapolis. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound right-hander ranked second among all Twins minor leaguers in starts (25), eighth in strikeouts (103) and 10th in innings pitched (97.2). He is currently ranked as the clubĄ¯s fifth-best prospect by MLB.com and FanGraphs. The Laredo, Texas native was selected by the Twins in the fourth round of the 2020 First-Year Player Draft out of United South High School and has posted a 26.0% strikeout rate over 225.1 career minor league innings.
The Twins now have 37 players on their major league roster: 21 pitchers, three catchers, five infielders, five outfielders and three utility players.
