White Sox select the contract of Steven Wilson from Triple-A Charlotte; designate Mike Clevinger for assignment
CHICAGO ¨C Prior to tonightĄ¯s game vs. the Athletics, the Chicago White Sox selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Steven Wilson from Class AAA Charlotte and designated right-hander Mike Clevinger for assignment.
Wilson, 30, is 0-0 with a 1.69 ERA (1 ER/5.1 IP), one save, one hold and 10 strikeouts over five relief appearances with Charlotte this season. He has recorded three strikeouts in three of his five outings.
Wilson, 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, went 1-6 with a 5.71 ERA (22 ER/34.2 IP) and 34 strikeouts in 40 relief appearances with the White Sox last season after being acquired from San Diego on March 13, 2024, as part of a five-player deal that sent right-handed pitcher Dylan Cease to the Padres.
Wilson owns a 6-10 record with a 4.03 ERA (63 ER/140.2 IP), one save, 36 holds and 144 strikeouts (9.21 per 9.0 IP) in 142 career appearances (one start) over parts of three major-league seasons with San Diego (2022-23) and Chicago (2024).
Clevinger, 34, went 0-2 with a 7.94 ERA (5 ER/5.2 IP) and three strikeouts over five relief outings with the White Sox this season.
The White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
