Roberto Alomar traveled around New York City to celebrate #CapsOn and Opening Day
Friday morning, Hall of Fame second baseman Roberto Alomar took a tour of New York City to encourage everyone to put their #CapsOn for Opening Day.
His first stop was at the New York Stock Exchange, where he got to ring the opening bell and show Wall Street a nifty baseball cap or two.
Then, he travelled over to the Empire State Building for a ceremonial lighting of a replica of the building in MLB's red, white, and blue colors.
For both appearances, Alomar donned a Blue Jays cap. As he correctly noted at the Stock Exchange, his father, Sandy Alomar, played for the Yankees. It's also worth noting both he and his father were on the Mets. Logically, then, one could argue it would make more sense for him to represent either New York club. However, he chose the Blue Jays for his cap du jour because, as he notes, the Blue Jays are his team. Alomar won back-to-back World Series titles with Toronto in 1992 and 1993 and entered the Hall of Fame in 2011 as a Blue Jay.
The Empire State Building, meanwhile, will also take part in #CapsOn activities -- so keep an eye out for that, if you're in the area:
