He can do everything: David Ross to compete on ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars'

Nothing can contain David Ross. Father Time gave up its battle with Ross years ago, as the great gray beard excelled through his age-39 season despite playing one of the most demanding positions in the game. 

Pitchers gave up trying to beat him as he managed to reach double-digit dingers in his final big league season ... including a fairly notable one deep into October. 

The Cubs' front office knew full well the team would not be able to repeat as World Series champs without him, so quickly made sure to bring Ross into the fold in the offseason as a special assistant. 
Now, the world of dance will soon know the full extent of Ross' athleticism as he will be appearing on the 24th season of the hit reality competition show "Dancing with the Stars."

Performing is nothing new to Ross -- after all, he took SNL by storm in November:

Athletes are nothing new to the show, with star football, basketball, tennis and volleyball players -- along with Olympians, UFC fighters and race car drivers -- all competing for the title of world's greatest dancer.  
In fact, athletes tend to clean up the event. Here are the athletes and their sports who have won in the past: 

While Ross will be the first baseball player to appear on the show, there has been a connection in the past: Volleyball player Misty May-Treanor, who is married to former big league catcher Matt Treanor, competed on the show after winning gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Will Ross follow in their foosteps and become the first baseball player to win DWTS? After helping end a 108-year World Series drought, we wouldn't put it past him. Besides, everyone knows Grandpas have the best dance moves.
