The recently retired Jayson Werth knocked a monster dinger in his rec league baseball debut
After a 15-year career that included a World Series ring and four top-20 MVP finishes, Jayson Werth announced his retirement a few months ago. But since then, it seems like he's been trying to stay in playing shape by getting some at-bats in a DC-area men's league.
There's a cool story over at the Washington Post about how Werth ended up as a one-day-only ringer for the Dominion Bulls of the D.C. Men's Senior Baseball League. He felt the need to stay fresh at the plate after he was invited to play in the Bluegrass World Series by his former teammate and longtime MLB first baseman Adam LaRoche.
Werth seems to have taken his rec league debut pretty seriously. After striking out earlier in the game, he didn't miss this 3-0 pitch, clobbering it way over the fence in left field at Madison High School in Vienna, VA..

If you listen closely you can hear Werth turn to the pitcher and holler "I didn't come here to walk" before launching the ball deep into the summer night.
