Manny Machado couldn't help but smile after throwing out good friend Jonathan Schoop in his first Brewers AB
Now, suddenly, they're on new teams. Machado's in Los Angeles, and Schoop is a member of the Brewers after Milwaukee picked him up before the Trade Deadline on Tuesday.
Jonathan Schoop and Manny Machado are great friends. After Schoop was traded to the Brewers, "[Machado] was the first one who texted me, and told me, 'I'm going to see you again. I'm going to play against you and I'm going to beat you, so you know.'"

Machado praised Schoop when asked for his take on Milwaukee's new infielder:
What are @Brewers getting in adding Jonathan Schoop? Manny Machado said, ¡°A hell of a player over there to help them win down the stretch... He¡¯s joining a pretty good ball club and I think he¡¯ll fit in perfectly.¡±

As fate would have it, the Brewers are playing the Dodgers this week in Los Angeles, and in the Dodgers' 6-4 win on Wednesday night, Schoop stepped in the box for his first at-bat with his new club ... and hit a soft grounder to Machado, who retired his pal with a slick running play:
That's just absolutely how things had to play out, isn't it?
In the fifth inning, Machado robbed Schoop again with another solid play, which you can see in the clip atop this post.
