Home Run Derby champ Pete Alonso crushed a dinger so massive it nearly left Target Field altogether
Just last week, Mets rookie slugger Pete Alonso put on an eye-popping, camera-smashing show at the Home Run Derby, outlasting Blue Jays phenom Vlad Guerrero Jr. and taking the Derby crown.
If you were wondering, yes, he also does this in actual baseball games, too. With the second half of the season underway, Alonso is has his sights set on Aaron Judge's rookie record of 52 homers (he already set the Mets record in late June).
In the Mets' 14-4 win over the Twins at Target Field on Wednesday, Alonso hit No. 31 -- and it still hasn't landed yet.

The man does not get cheated. And did you hear the sound of his bat smacking the baseball? It was ear-piercing.

Look where this baseball is.
Were it not for that pesky gravity, Alonso's latest tater might have sailed completely out of the ballpark. He might do that anyway. He seems strong enough.
