The Royals unveiled their new Turn Ahead the Clock uniforms, complete with crown-style helmet
It's time to ... go back to the future. That's because on June 30, the Royals and Mariners are celebrating the 20th anniversary of that glorious fashion experiment known as Turn Ahead the Clock Day.
The Mariners are going to stick with the famous uniforms that they wore on that history-changing day. After all, they were designed by Ken Griffey Jr., and he's basically the Christian Dior of the baseball world.
However, the Royals decided to change things up for the new version. Rather than wearing goldenrod jerseys with a sparkling, golden helmet, the team has a set of fresh duds.
Obviously, the sleeveless look remains, but now the team will wear a deep blue, trimmed with gold. The cap changes a little, with just the golden outline of a crown atop it.

However, the true piece de resistance is the helmet. Where most helmet decisions end with choosing between matte or shiny, the Royals have turned theirs into an actual crown. The future never looked so good.
