Gary Sánchez took aim at Oracle Park's big glove on a monster grand slam

Oracle Park in San Francisco is well known for McCovey Cove, which is always an enticing target for hitters looking to splash down like Barry Bonds did nigh-countless times. One object has proved impossible to reach, though -- the massive baseball glove next to the bottle. Positioned over 500 feet away, no one has ever hit a ball to the glove, or anywhere close to it, really.

Gary Sánchez was undaunted. It didn't matter that he had been hitless since coming off the injured list on Wednesday. He was going to give that glove his best shot.

Facing Derek Holland on Saturday afternoon with the bases loaded in the fifth, Sánchez got a fat 90.6-mph sinker over the heart of the plate and unloaded:

It was gone the moment he made contact. There were still many feet between where the ball landed and the glove, but it was still a titanic shot at 467 feet -- the longest grand slam ever recorded by Statcast.

The tape-measure blast instantly rocketed up the ranks of the most memorable homers at Oracle Park. The closest comparison might be Andrés Galarraga's incredible shot that almost hit the Coca-Cola bottle next to the glove in 2001.

That homer would have given the glove a run for its money if it was more in that direction.

If Sánchez played all his home games at Oracle Park, I bet he'd reach the landmark eventually with that kind of pop. Maybe another time, Gary. Maybe another time.
