Watch Elon University's Robbie Welhaf throw the first no-hitter in 2017
The first Major League exhibition games may not start until Wednesday when the D-backs take on GCU, but you can still watch the final pitch of a no-hitter in February. That's because Elon University's Robbie Welhaf dominated once he took the rubber against the Longwood Lancers on Saturday.

Welhaf needed only 100 pitches to set down the Lancers, as he struck out eight and walked only one. Not a bad way to make your first start of the season -- especially when it's the very first no-hitter of 2017:

Update: Welhaf's time as the sole pitcher with a no-hitter this year was brief. Just a few hours later, LSU's Jared Poche tossed the school's first no-no since 1979:
