Yasiel Puig hit three home runs and then got some kisses from hitting coach Turner Ward
Saturday's game against the Cardinals was a big one for the Dodgers. Entering the second of a three-game set with St. Louis, the winner would take sole possession of the second NL Wild Card spot.
Yasiel Puig didn't leave any doubt. The outfielder blasted three home runs in the Dodgers' 17-4 win on Saturday.
So, how does a player react when he smashes that many dingers during the postseason push? Why, he wants kisses from his hitting coach, of course. That meant one kiss for each dinger from Turner Ward.
There's one:
Two:
And three. Mwah!
The two have long shown affection for each other. Puig often snags Ward by the face to plant one on him, whether it's after home runs or even during World Series lineup introductions.
While Puig likes to celebrate with a kiss, they aren't the source of his power. Puig, who homered two times on Friday night, too, attributes his recent success to the abundance of grasshoppers in the Busch Stadium dugouts.
Yasiel Puig said he thinks he's been so good the last couple days because of the grasshoppers infesting Busch Stadium. He said he might start breeding some at his house.
