She worked as a sportswriter and broadcaster during and after college...When Bailey was eight years old he began attending North Carolina Baseball Academy run by Scott Bankhead, a former big-league pitcher. By the age of 12 or 13 he was catching exclusively. The first big leaguer he ever caught was Yimi Garcia...Patrick was home - schooled through middle school and then decided to attend high school at Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, N.C., where he joined the same baseball program that produced Wil Myers...As a junior at Wesleyan Christian in 2016, he was selected for the U-18 US national baseball team. As a senior, he batted .510 with five HRs and 33 RBI...After finding out he was being called up to SF, his first call was to his wife, Leigha. His second was to Craig Albernaz, former Giants Bullpen Coach and Catching Coordinator, who was a mentor to Bailey...Bailey was a groomsmen in Giants prospect Will Wilson¡¯s wedding while they were at NC State...Faith is really important to Bailey and is something that has always been important in his life...In 2018, Bailey led all ACC freshmen in batting average (.321), total bases (113) and slugging (.604) while also setting a new NC State freshman home run record (13) on his way to being named the ACC Freshman of the Year...As a sophomore in 2019, Bailey was named First Team All-ACC, ABCA All-Region and Collegiate Baseball Third Team All-American after compiling a .288 clip with 68 hits, 17 doubles, 10 homers and a .513 slugging percentage...Despite the shortened 2020 season, he ranked tied for second in RBI (20), third in walks (17) and tied for fourth in home runs (six) among all ACC players...Was one of 14 semifinalists for the Buster Posey Award in 2019, given to the nation¡¯s best catcher. He was named to USA Baseball¡¯s Collegiate National team roster.

Named one of three finalists for a National League Gold Glove award...Played 97 games for SF in his first MLB season, where he hit .233 with 29 runs, 18 doubles, one triple, seven HRs, 48 RBI and a .644 OPS...His +16 catcher framing runs and 52.9% strike rate were both tops in MLB (Statcast)...His pop time of 1.87 to second base was tied for second-best in MLB behind PHI¡¯s J.T. Realmuto (1.83). Spent the entire season with High-A Eugene and hit .225 with 14 doubles, 12 homers and 51 RBI over 83 games... Earned a MiLB Gold Glove as he played 72 games at catcher and posted a .989 fielding percentage...caught 29-of-97 base stealers (29.9%)... Was named to the NWL Post-Season All-Star team... Played in a career-best 83 games for the Emeralds... spent seven days on the IL in late June... Had a .252/.370/.481 slash line (.851 OPS) with 11 of his 12 homers against right-handed pitching (206 ABs)...hit .131 with one homer and a .452 OPS against lefties (61 ABs)... After batting .194 with seven homers and a .652 OPS for his first 56 games, Bailey hit .283 with eight doubles, five homers, 23 RBI, 20 walks, 22 strikeouts and a .964 OPS over his final 27 games dating to July 22.
2021
Began his first professional season with High-A Eugene...appeared in 33 games and hit .185 with a .586 OPS...Was reassigned to the Arizona Complex League on June 26 and then eventually assigned to Low-A San Jose on July 12 where he¡¯d finish the season...Turned in a great 47 games with the SJ Giants, hitting .322 with a .946 OPS, 16 doubles, seven homers and 24 RBI in 47 games to help them capture the Low-A West Championship...From July 20 through the end of the season, Bailey¡¯s .338 average and .988 OPS were third-best among qualified players in the Low-A West...Named the Low-A West Player of the Week for the week of August 23-29...Played for Scottsdale in the Arizona Fall League after the season, hitting .292 with three doubles, one homer, five RBI, a .375 OBP and a .792 OPS...Was named to the AFL Fall Stars Game.
