WEDNESDAY'S TOP PERFORMERS
Marcelo Mayer, SS, Worcester (BOS No. 3/MLB No. 11)
It didn't take long for Mayer to belt his first jack of 2025, and it took even less time for him to hit his second. In his first at-bat of the game, facing off against righty Adam Mazur (MIA No. 13), the 2021 first-rounder drilled his second homer in as many days. Through four games (17 at-bats) at Triple-A Worcester, Mayer sports a .294/.333/.647 slash line. On the other side of the ball, Lucas Giolito fanned two in 2 1/3 innings in his first rehab start. Gameday
Nick Kurtz, 1B, Las Vegas (ATH No. 2/MLB No. 37)
The second top performer on this list featured for the second consecutive day, Kurtz mashed his third homer of the season and second in the past two games, raising his OPS to 1.522. Last season at Wake Forest, the 2024 fourth overall pick had a stretch in which he crushed 14 big flies in 10 games. His start to the 2025 Minor League season may not quite be on that level, but he has three long balls in five games. Gameday
Jace Jung, 3B, Toledo (DET No. 7)
The season is young and statistics are fluid, but be that as it may, Jung boosted his slugging percentage a full .297 points with his latest performance. The former Red Raider went 2-for-4 with a home run and a triple for the Triple-A Mud Hens, raising his OPS to 1.478 in 15 at-bats. After missing a homer by just a few feet on a sixth-inning triple that traveled 374 feet and clipped the top of the right-field wall, Jung sent a fastball 415 feet over nearly the exact same spot in the eighth. Gameday
Zac Veen, OF, Albuquerque (COL No. 8)
Veen gave fans a taste of his potential this spring, winning the Rockies' Abby Greer Award -- given to the Spring Training MVP -- and he hasn't slowed down much since. The former first-rounder tallied a knock in his fifth straight game, going 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a stolen base for the Triple-A Isotopes. The highlight of his night came in the fifth inning when Veen raced for a two-run triple. Gameday
Chase Meidroth, 2B, Charlotte (CWS No. 8)
Meidroth might not be known for his power -- it's graded as a 35 on the 20-80 scale -- but he sure hasn't had too much of a problem tapping into it this season. Acquired from Boston in the Garrett Crochet trade this past winter, Meidroth hit his second homer in just 17 at-bats. The 23-year-old's career high in a season is nine, a mark he is already on his way to surpassing. Meidroth also singled in the game. Gameday
