PHOENIX -- Mitch Haniger and Kyle Jensen both spent time earlier this year mashing for Triple-A Reno. They each earned promotions to the D-backs for the final month of the season. And together, just as they did in Reno, the pair of outfielders are coming through with some big hits.
Jensen and Haniger both homered in Arizona's 7-3 win in the series opener against the Dodgers on Thursday night at Chase Field. Jensen drove in the game's first run with a solo shot off Los Angeles starter Rich Hill, while Haniger later followed with a big three-run blast of his own.
"We've been bouncing off each other all year," Jensen said. "It's good that we've been able to continue to do that."
They succeeded in the hitter-friendly environments in Reno, playing in the high-scoring Pacific Coast League. Haniger was named Arizona's Organizational Player of the Year, hitting .321 with 25 homers and 94 RBIs between Triple-A and Double-A Mobile. Meanwhile, Jensen was the runner-up for the PCL MVP award after batting .289 with 30 homers and 120 RBIs in Reno.

Jensen hit his first career homer last Friday off Giants ace Madison Bumgarner. This time, he blasted a second-inning solo shot off Hill, another one of the NL's top left-handers.
"Hitting's contagious and when you've got everyone on your team hitting, it helps everybody out," said Jensen, whose team has scored a total of 41 runs over the past four games, all wins.
Haniger broke the game open when he capped a five-run rally in the sixth inning. The center fielder blasted a three-run homer to left, his second career long ball, which put Arizona, ahead 7-1.
"I think Jensen and Haniger's at-bats were very, very good, because at that point the at-bats didn't look so good," manager Chip Hale said. "They're feeling good about their swings right now."
