HOUSTON -- The Astros placed right-hander Brad Peacock on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder soreness prior to Friday's series opener against the Mariners. Peacock allowed six runs and seven hits in three innings Thursday against Pittsburgh.

The club recalled left-hander Reymin Guduan from Triple-A Round Rock to take Peacock's spot on the active roster.

¡°He probably could keep giving us 100 percent of what he¡¯s got, but obviously it didn¡¯t go well [Thursday], and we feel like with the off-days and the All-Star break we can get ahead of this and avoid any more missed time,¡± Astros manager AJ Hinch said of Peacock. ¡°We expect him to be back in the rotation after the All-Star break. A little bit of rest does everybody good, and we hope he can mend quickly.¡±

The Astros will have to find a starter for Tuesday¡¯s game against the Rockies, which was Peacock¡¯s next turn in the rotation. Cy Sneed, who threw six innings in relief of Peacock in his Major League debut on Thursday, is a candidate, along with Rogelio Armenteros and Brady Rodgers, both of whom are in Round Rock. Wade Miley will pitch the second game in Colorado on Wednesday.

Because the Astros are off Monday, they could use relief pitchers to patch together the innings Tuesday.

¡°We have a decision to make by the time we get back to Colorado,¡± Hinch said.

Peacock is 1-3 with a 7.08 ERA in his past four starts, though he struck out 11 Yankees in six innings on June 21 at Yankee Stadium. Hinch said Peacock has been dealing with shoulder soreness for a little while.

¡°This time of year, every guy is going through something,¡± Hinch said. ¡°He¡¯s had some good games. Not too long ago, his start before, he punched out double digits. It just is something we decided not to keep pushing.¡±

Odds and ends
? Infielder Aledmys Diaz, on the disabled list since May 27 with a left hamstring strain, took batting practice on the field for the first time in weeks on Friday. Hinch said Diaz is likely to travel with the club to Colorado next week or go to Florida and rehab at the team¡¯s facility in West Palm Beach. He should return to the team after the All-Star break, barring a setback.

? Shortstop Carlos Correa, who¡¯s been out a month with a broken rib, continues to run on the field and will start to simulate some baseball drills in the batting cage in the coming days. He¡¯s also set to return after the All-Star break.
