Brewers prospect Misiorowski flashes 100 mph stuff at Futures Game
SEATTLE -- As Jacob Misiorowski ran in from the bullpen, he shook off some nerves and had a pretty simple plan.?
¡°Pound the zone and throw the ball as hard as I can,¡± Misiorowski laughed. ¡°That was it. I think I did exactly that.¡±
He sure did.?
In the fourth inning of Saturday¡¯s SiriusXM Future¡¯s Game, Misiorowski allowed one hit and struck out three in his lone inning of work. Though he said he didn¡¯t peek at his velocity, just about everyone else in attendance took note.?
Misiorowski¡¯s first pitch came in at 100 mph. His next one was clocked in at 101.2 mph. Two pitches later, he reared back and hit 102.4. Misiorowski said his average velocity this season is about 98 mph. Well, of the 11 four-seamers Misiorowski threw Saturday, all of them hit triple digits.
¡°That fastball is impressive,¡± Brewers catching prospect Jeferson Quero said. ¡°He also has some really good breaking balls, but that four-seamer is elite. Honestly, he was just nasty today.¡±
Just a year ago, Misiorowski was sitting at home waiting for his name to be called in the 2022 Draft. That happened in the second round when the Brewers decided to select the flame-throwing right-hander out of Crowder Junior College in Missouri.
Since then, Misiorowski has quickly opened a lot of eyes in the organization. This season, he is 2-1 with a 2.53 ERA in 14 starts, all while striking out 70 batters in just 46 1/3 innings of work between Low-A and High-A.
Aside from his electric fastball, Misiorowski also possesses a changeup, slider and curveball. His last pitch on Saturday was a 92 mph slider to strike out Tigers¡¯ prospect Justyn-Henry Malloy.
Getting the success he had in such a big stage has only elevated Misiorowski¡¯s confidence.
¡°Pretty up there. It¡¯s pretty high up there,¡± Misiorowski said, when asked where the Future¡¯s Game appearance ranks in his baseball career. ¡°It didn¡¯t come together after the dink single, and then I kind of realized that I¡¯m actually doing something pretty cool.¡±
After striking out all three batters he faced, Misiorowski said he had to finish off his outing by making his High-A teammates happy. He said his teammates texted him to let out a big ¡°Let¡¯s Go!¡± after his final strikeout. That¡¯s exactly how it played out in a night the right-hander won¡¯t forget.
¡°They were telling me I had to let the adrenaline go,¡± Misiorowski laughed. ¡°It was huge. So I did.¡±
