'Dancing On My Own' singer has a billion reasons to thank Phils
As the Phillies have dominated their way through the past two postseasons, they¡¯ve had their own anthem during the ride.?
British singer and songwriter Calum Scott¡¯s cover of Robyn¡¯s ¡°Dancing On My Own¡± has been a rallying cry of sorts for the Phillies in their recent October runs, and it's become a signature part of their clubhouse celebrations. On Wednesday, Scott announced that his song had reached 1 billion streams on Spotify. He gave a special thank you to the Phillies, who have completely embraced this song.
After it turned into a staple at Citizens Bank Park last October, the Phillies initially ¡°retired¡± the song at the beginning of the 2023 season.
¡°It¡¯s a second-place song,¡± Kyle Schwarber said before the season.
But after struggling through the first part of the season, the team brought back the anthem following a win on June 4. Since that point, the Phillies have gone a combined 70-41 in the regular season and postseason and find themselves two victories away from a second straight NL pennant.
