April 30: Reds 8, Cubs 6 -- Votto's elite company
Joey Votto¡¯s two-run home run to right field in the third inning gave him No. 300 for his career. That made him only the third player to ever hit 300 homers for the Reds franchise over its long history. He joins a pair of Hall of Famers. Johnny Bench hit 389 homers and Frank Robinson is second with 324.

April 28: Dodgers 8, Reds 0 -- Gray continues historic run
Having allowing just four hits against the Dodgers, Sonny Gray extended his Major League record streak to 47 consecutive starts where he has allowed six hits or fewer. The last time that he allowed more than six hits in a start was on Aug. 1, 2018, in a start for the Yankees against the Orioles.

April 27: Reds 6, Dodgers 5 -- Winker's dozen
With a three-hit game (and a triple shy of the cycle), left fielder Jesse Winker extended his hitting streak to 12 games, tying the career high he set from July 3-21, 2018. It also tied Winker with the Cardinals' Tommy Edman for the longest hitting streak in the Major Leagues this season.

April 26: Reds 5, Dodgers 3 -- A new kind of home run
Because the extra-inning rules put an automatic runner on second base, Jesse Winker had the quirk of hitting a game-winning two-run leadoff home run in the top of the 10th inning. Going back to last season when the rule was implemented, there have been eight such homers in MLB history, including three in 2021. Jordan Luplow also hit a leadoff two-run homer for Cleveland earlier in the day, and Corey Seager did it for the Dodgers on April 16.

April 25: Cardinals 5, Reds 2: Ejections a father-son affair
Umpire Joe West's father/son ejections: Bob Boone (June 17, 2003) and Aaron Boone (Sept. 21, 2019) and, now, after Sunday Buddy Bell (July 22, 2006/Aug. 26, 2006) and David Bell (Apr. 25, 2021).

April 24: Cardinals 2, Reds 0 -- Votto ties Wynn
Reds first baseman Joey Votto recorded the 1,224th walk of his career when he took ball four from Cardinals right-hander John Gant in the fourth inning. The free pass tied Votto with Cincinnati native Jimmy Wynn for 56th on the all-time walks list.

April 23: Cardinals 5, Reds 4 -- Castellanos' 1,000th hit a HR
With a home run in the sixth inning on Friday against Kwang Hyun Kim, Nick Castellanos notched career hit No. 1,000. The long ball, which was thrown back onto the field by a fan in St. Louis, also tied Castellanos with Atlanta Ronald Acu?a Jr. for the National League lead with seven.

April 22: D-backs 14, Reds 11 (10 innings) -- India matches Hamilton, Votto
Jonathan India hit his first career home run in the eighth inning -- a game-tying solo drive to right-center field -- and has 13 RBIs on the season. That tied India for the Reds' rookie record for the most in April with Josh Hamilton (2007) and Joey Votto (2008).

April 21: D-backs 5, Reds 4; D-backs 8, Reds 5
Tejay Antone has a 14.34 strikeouts per nine innings ratio with 17 strikeouts in just 10 2/3 innings. Pitching in both of the games completed on Wednesday, he had five strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.

April 20: D-backs vs. Reds -- Finish what they started
The Reds' opener of a three-game series vs. the D-backs was suspended with Arizona leading, 5-4, with one out in the top of the eighth inning. Three previous Reds games were suspended and completed the next day. The game on April 16, 2013, vs. the Phillies was postponed in the middle of the ninth inning with the score tied, 0-0. It was completed the next day prior to the regularly scheduled game (1-0 Reds win). The game on April 14, 2014, vs. the Pirates was postponed after the sixth inning with the score tied, 7-7. It was completed the next day prior to the regularly scheduled game (8-7 Pirates win). The game on Sept. 11, 2015, vs. the Cardinals was postponed in the top of the top of the eighth inning with the score tied, 2-2. It was completed the next day prior to the scheduled game (4-2 Reds win).

April 18: Indians 6, Reds 3 -- Votto notches three
Joey Votto is the first batter to collect three or more hits in a game against Cleveland's Shane Bieber since both Jos¨¦ Abreu (3) and Tim Anderson (3) did it for the White Sox on Sept. 25, 2019, in an 8-3 win.

April 17: Reds 3, Indians 2 -- Votto turns THREE
In the eighth inning, Joey Votto turned the 31st triple play in Reds history when he caught Josh Naylor's liner to first base, tagged out Franmil Reyes and threw to third base to get Eddie Rosario. It was Cincinnati's first triple play since July 25, 2017 vs. the Yankees in New York when Todd Frazier started a 6-6-3-3-5-6 triple play.

April 16: Reds 10, Indians 3 -- Reds go for 7
The Reds scored seven runs in the third inning vs. Cleveland. It was the club's first seven-run inning since doing it on July 29 in each of the previous two seasons. On July 29, 2020, they scored seven in the bottom of the fifth vs. the White Sox. On July 29, 2019, they scored 10 in the bottom of the second vs. Pittsburgh.

April 14: Giants 3, Reds 0 -- Success vs. San Francisco
Despite losses Tuesday and Wednesday, the Reds are 49-34 vs. the Giants during the regular season since 2008. Their .590 winning percentage in that span is the best of any opponent against San Francisco.

April 13: Giants 7, Reds 6 -- Four four-baggers in opening inning a first for Oracle
With two home runs by the Reds and two by the Giants, it was the first time that four home runs were hit in the first inning of a game at Oracle Park (regular season and postseason included). Joey Votto and Mike Moustakas went deep for the Reds, while Mike Yastrzemski and Brandon Crawford homered for the Giants.

April 12: Reds 3, Giants 0 -- Miley cruising early
Wade Miley pitched five scoreless innings in his second start of the season in Monday night's 3-0 victory over the Giants in San Francisco to go with his six scoreless innings against the Pirates in his first start of 2021. According to Elias Sports Bureau, since 1893, only two Reds starters have had two starts of at least five scoreless innings to start a season -- Miley this year and Anthony DeSclafani in 2020.

April 11: D-backs 7, Reds 0 -- Votto hits rockets -- for outs
Statcast data showed that Joey Votto had the hardest-hit ball of the game vs. the D-backs with a fourth-inning lineout to the shortstop at 108.4 mph. Votto has struck 10 balls this season with an exit velocity of 98 mph or higher, but he has only two hits to show for it.

April 10: D-backs 8, Reds 3 -- Reds can't muster five
The Reds' streak of five or more runs scored in each contest to start a season ended at seven games Saturday. It was the longest streak to begin a season since the 2019 Mariners also had seven. No team had a longer streak since '04, when the Cardinals and Tigers both reached the mark in eight straight games.

April 9: Reds 6, D-backs 5 -- Reds' historic offensive start continues
After scoring six runs in their series-opening win over the D-backs, the Reds remain the only team in the Majors to score at least five runs in every game thus far in 2021.

Cincinnati also has 63 runs through its first seven games of the season, which is tied for third-most among active franchises in the modern era (since 1900). The only teams with more are the '62 Cardinals and the '50 Yankees, which both scored 70 times in their first seven games.

April 7: Reds 11, Pirates 4 -- Naquin's leadoff homers
Tyler Naquin is the first Reds batter to belt leadoff home runs in consecutive games since Eddie Milner did it on June 24 against the Padres and June 25 at the Giants in 1984.

April 6: Reds 14, Pirates 1 -- Naquin racks up 7 RBIs
Tyler Naquin is only the second Reds hitter to have seven or more RBIs in a game while batting leadoff. The first to do it was Brandon Phillips on July 30, 2015, also against the Pirates.

April 5: Reds 5, Pirates 3 -- De Le¨®n reps Puerto Rico
Jos¨¦ De Le¨®n is the second pitcher from Puerto Rico to start a game for the Reds, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The other Puerto Rico-born pitcher to do so was Ricky Bones, who started two games for Cincinnati in 1997.

April 4: Reds 12, Cardinals 1 -- Bats dominate Opening Series
The Reds scored 27 runs in their three-game series against the Cardinals. It was the second-most for the club to open a season since at least 1901. Per the Elias Sports Bureau, the only other Reds teams to score at least 27 runs in the first three games of a season were the 1895 Reds (36) and the 1976 Reds (33).

April 3: Reds 9, Cardinals 6 -- The Punisher strikes
In the sixth inning, Aristides Aquino hit a home run to left field off of Andrew Miller that had an exit velocity of 112 mph, according to Statcast. That was Aquino's fifth career homer of 110 mph or more out of his 22 career blasts. The only Reds player with more 110+ mph exit velocity homers since 2019 is Eugenio Su¨¢rez (6).

April 1: Cardinals 11, Reds 6 -- Votto pops out ... twice?!
Joey Votto popped out on the infield twice during Thursday's loss. The last time that Votto hit two infield popups for outs in the same game was Sept. 22, 2008, which was his rookie season. According to FanGraphs, Votto hit four infield fly balls total in '19, but prior to that, he had not hit more than two infield fly balls in any season since '08 (with five).
