LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers got good news on the injury front as left-hander Alex Vesia and right-hander Brusdar Graterol, two of the best relievers on the team, are back on the World Series roster after missing at least one round earlier this postseason.

But on the flip side, the Dodgers were also dealt with another unfortunate blow as right-hander Evan Phillips will not be on the World Series roster due to an injury. Phillips suffered an arm injury during his outing in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series against the Mets on Sunday.

Phillips was scheduled to pitch the sixth and seventh inning during that outing, but he was forced out of the game after just one inning of work. Over the past few days, it became increasingly likely that Phillips would be forced to miss the Fall Classic.

The 30-year-old right-hander has been one of the most important pieces to the Dodgers¡¯ bullpen this season. He finished the regular season with a 3.62 ERA over 61 games, recording 18 saves in the process. In the postseason, Phillips didn¡¯t allow a run over 6 2/3 innings.

¡°Evan came out of the game Sunday and just wasn¡¯t rebounding the way that he was hoping,¡± said Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman. ¡°Each day has gotten better, but [we're] not going to put him in harm¡¯s way, and where there¡¯s an ambiguity around it, it¡¯s not clear.¡±

Getting Vesia and Graterol back in the fold should help, however. Vesia, who missed the NLCS with a right side injury, will likely get most -- if not all -- of the responsibility against Yankees superstar Juan Soto. Graterol, on the other hand, has only pitched in seven games this season and missed the first two rounds of the postseason with a recurring right shoulder injury.

¡°Obviously losing Evan, not having Evan available for this series certainly is disappointing,¡± said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. ¡°We've got to make sure we protect him, short term [and] long term. But being able to add Brusdar and Alex to this roster is a huge addition. I think they match up well with this ball club, and they've got experience. So I think that, obviously, losing Evan was a blow, but getting two nice additions is big.¡±

Among position players, Miguel Rojas is back on the roster after missing the NL Championship Series with a tear in his left adductor muscle. Rojas gives the Dodgers another infield option, replacing Kevin Kiermaier, who served strictly as a late-inning defensive replacement or pinch-runner.

¡°I see [Rojas] playing short tomorrow [in Game 2]. I see him starting against [Carlos] Rod¨®n,¡± Roberts said. ¡°And then I see him coming in to -- whether it be a pinch-hit in Gavin¡¯s spot, which I could use him or somebody else -- I see him coming in potentially to play defense at short. He¡¯s in a good spot, and we¡¯re going to need him.¡±
