Here is every Trade Deadline deal

August 2nd, 2022

Here is every trade made from the All-Star break through the Trade Deadline.

Aug. 2: Padres acquire OF Juan Soto and 1B Josh Bell from Nationals for 1B Luke Voit, LHP MacKenzie Gore, SS C.J. Abrams, OF Robert Hassell III, OF James Wood and RHP Jarlin Susana
A blockbuster of the highest order, the Padres added one of the game¡¯s best players to fit into the middle of their lineup with Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr., who could make his season debut later this month. Soto, 23, has a 151 wRC+ this season. His 165 wRC+ since the beginning of 2020 is tied for the best in baseball. The superstar outfielder is controllable through 2024.

The Padres also brought aboard the switch-hitting Bell, who had 14 homers and an .877 OPS with the Nats. San Diego¡¯s first basemen have hit only 10 home runs this season, the second fewest in MLB, and rank 19th with a .751 OPS.

First baseman Eric Hosmer, who is in the fifth season of an eight-year contract, was initially part of the reported deal, but he refused to waive his no-trade clause. So, the Padres sent Voit to Washington in order to finalize the deal.

Washington got back the Padres¡¯ No. 1 prospect prior to this season (Abrams), their current No. 1 prospect (Hassell), two other top-15 prospects (No. 3 Wood and No. 15 Susana) and Gore, who was a top-10 prospect in MLB prior to the 2021 campaign. Gore has a 4.50 ERA through 70 innings pitched during his rookie season. He is currently on the injured list with left elbow inflammation but may return in September. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Dodgers acquire OF Joey Gallo from Yankees for RHP Clayton Beeter
Gallo joins the Dodgers following a rough stint in New York. Acquired prior to the 2021 Trade Deadline, the left-handed slugger hit just .159 with a .660 OPS in 140 games with the Yankees. He swatted 25 homers but also struck out 194 times in 501 at-bats. He has six hits in 71 at-bats since June 18. A two-time All-Star who bashed at least 38 home runs in each of the previous three full seasons, Gallo will provide outfield depth for L.A., which was looking to land a lefty bat prior to the Trade Deadline.

Beeter was the Dodgers¡¯ No. 15 prospect. The 23-year-old was a Competitive Balance Round Draft pick in 2020. He owns a 5.75 ERA across through 16 starts at Double-A this season, but he has struck out 88 batters in 51 2/3 innings. MLB Pipeline assigned plus grades to his fastball and curveball. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Red Sox acquire 1B Eric Hosmer, two prospects and cash from Padres for LHP Jay Groome
Hosmer was initially part of the reported trade package the Padres are sending to the Nationals for Juan Soto and Josh Bell, but he refused to waive his no-trade clause to accept a deal to Washington. San Diego was able to find a taker for Hosmer in the Red Sox, who have gotten a .642 OPS from regular first baseman Bobby Dalbec this season. The Friars also sent Minor Leaguers Max Ferguson and Corey Rosier to Boston, plus cash to cover a significant portion of the money remaining on Hosmer¡¯s eight-year, $144 million deal, which runs through 2025. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Phillies acquire RHP Noah Syndergaard from Angels for OF Mickey Moniak and OF Jadiel S¨¢nchez
The acquisition of Syndergaard gives the Phils a playoff-tested starter they can slot in behind Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler, who previously pitched with Syndergaard when both were with the Mets. After missing nearly two seasons while recovering from Tommy John surgery, Syndergaard reached a one-year, $21 million deal with the Angels last November. He posted a 3.83 ERA with 64 K¡¯s in 80 innings for the Halos.

Moniak was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft, but he appeared in only 47 MLB games for the Phillies, hitting .129 with one home run in 105 plate appearances. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Twins acquire Tyler Mahle from Reds for three prospects
After adding All-Star closer Jorge L¨®pez in a trade with the Orioles earlier in the day, the first-place Twins made a move for a much needed starting pitcher, getting Mahle for infielder Spencer Steer (Twins¡¯ No. 7 prospect), left-hander Steven Hajjar (No. 18) and infielder Christian Encarnacion-Strand (No. 23).

Mahle joins Minnesota having recorded a 2.83 ERA in his past nine outings, including a pair of quality starts since returning from the right shoulder strain that landed him on the injured list in early July. The 27-year-old struck out 210 batters last season and owns a 10.7 K/9 since the beginning of 2020. He's under team control through 2023. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Braves acquire RHP Raisel Iglesias from Angels for RHP Jesse Chavez and LHP Tucker Davidson
Less than a year after signing Iglesias to a four-year, $58 million contract, the Angels shipped the closer to the Braves. Iglesias has recorded 156 saves in his eight-year career while posting a 3.13 ERA. He will take over the late-inning role vacated by left-hander Will Smith, who was traded to the Astros for righty Jake Odorizzi. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Blue Jays acquire 2B/OF Whit Merrifield from Royals for 2B/OF Samad Taylor and RHP Max Castillo
Merrifield is having a down season at the plate, but the two-time AL hits leader and three-time stolen base leader should provide Toronto valuable versatility, as he can play second base or any of the three outfield positions. The 33-year-old veteran is batting .240 with six home runs and 15 steals this year. In return for Merrifield, the Royals are getting the Blue Jays' No. 16 prospect in the 24-year-old Taylor and a young arm in the 23-year-old rookie Castillo. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Cardinals acquire LHP Jordan Montgomery from Yankees for OF Harrison Bader and PTBN or cash
The Yankees' trade for A's ace Frankie Montas gave them the flexibility to move one of their own starters for one of MLB's elite defensive center fielders, which should ease the pressure on Aaron Judge. Bader is currently on the injured list with right foot plantar fasciitis, but he's batting .256 with five homers and 15 steals in 72 games this season. Montgomery solidifies an injury-plagued Cardinals rotation that's missing both Jack Flaherty and Steven Matz. The 29-year-old southpaw has a 3.69 ERA and 97 strikeouts in 114 2/3 innings this season. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Phillies acquire RHP David Robertson from Cubs for RHP Ben Brown
The Phillies shored up their bullpen with a familiar face, picking up Robertson from the Cubs. Robertson signed a two-year, $23 million contract with Philadelphia after the 2018 season, but he ended up throwing only 6 2/3 innings in a Phils uniform before undergoing Tommy John surgery. The 37-year-old has rejuvenated his career this season, posting a 2.23 ERA with 14 saves for Chicago after signing a one-year, $3.5 million contract in the offseason. Brown was Philadelphia¡¯s No. 26 prospect. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Twins acquire RHP Michael Fulmer from Tigers for RHP Sawyer Gipson-Long
The Tigers got Fulmer in a Deadline blockbuster seven years ago -- the Yoenis C¨¦spedes trade with the Mets. Now they're sending him to Minnesota in a lower-stakes Deadline deal for the 24-year-old pitching prospect Gipson-Long, a sixth-round Draft pick from 2019. The 29-year-old Fulmer, now a reliever, has a 3.20 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 41 appearances this year. Fulmer is slated to become a free agent after the season, so he's a rental to boost the bullpen of the AL Central leaders.

Aug. 2: Padres acquire 2B/3B Brandon Drury from Reds for SS Victor Acosta
After sending right-handed slugger Luke Voit to the Nationals in the Juan Soto/Josh Bell blockbuster, the Padres found a righty bat to replace him with this deal for Drury. The 29-year-old signed a one-year, $900,000 contract in March and went on to post a career-high 20 homers and an .855 OPS over 92 games for the Reds. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Phillies acquire OF Brandon Marsh from Angels for C Logan O'Hoppe
The Phillies have been on the lookout for a true center fielder for some time, and Marsh could fill that need. The speedy 24-year-old has mostly played left field this season with Mike Trout entrenched in center, but he made all 70 of his defensive appearances in center as a rookie in 2021. The 2016 second-round Draft Pick is a career .239/.299/.354 hitter with 10 homers. O¡¯Hoppe was Philadelphia¡¯s No. 3 prospect, but he was expendable with catcher J.T. Realmuto signed to a long-term contract. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Mets acquire 1B/OF Darin Ruf from Giants for 3B/OF J.D. Davis, LHP Thomas Szapucki, LHP Nick Zwack, RHP Carson Seymour
Following the additions of left-handed hitters Daniel Vogelbach and Tyler Naquin, the Mets got the right-handed bat they desired in Ruf. He is having a below-average season at the plate overall (98 OPS+), but he has recorded an .886 OPS versus left-handed pitching this year.

Davis hit .238 with a .683 OPS in 66 games with the Mets this year. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Blue Jays acquire RHP Anthony Bass and RHP Zach Pop from Marlins for SS Jordan Groshans
The Blue Jays turned to a familiar face to satisfy their need for bullpen help, acquiring Bass from Miami in a three-player trade that also brought Pop, a 25-year-old righty, to Toronto. The 34-year-old Bass pitched for Toronto in 2020 before signing a two-year, $5 million deal (plus a 2023 club option) with the Marlins. Bass has posted a 3.98 ERA for seven teams over 11 seasons, but he has a 1.41 ERA with 45 K¡¯s in 44 2/3 innings this year.

Groshans, MLB¡¯s No. 82 prospect, heads to Miami in the three-player trade. The 22-year-old has struggled in the Minors this season, hitting .247 with one homer over 299 plate appearances. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Twins acquire RHP Jorge L¨®pez from Orioles for LHP Cade Povich, LHP Juan Rojas, RHP Yennier Cano, RHP Juan Nu?ez
L¨®pez addresses a need in the Twins' bullpen, which ranks in the middle of the back in ERA and has blown 18 saves out of 38 opportunities. Under contract through 2024, L¨®pez has been stellar as Baltimore's closer, posting a 1.68 ERA over 48 1/3 innings. He has 19 saves in 23 opportunities and has limited opposing batters to a 29.8 percent hard-hit rate, which ranks in the 95th percentile in MLB.

Povich, a third-round Draft pick last year, was Minnesota's No. 22 prospect. Cano is a 28-year-old rookie who has a 9.22 ERA through 10 appearances in the Majors this season. Rojas, 18, and Nu?ez, 21, were both playing for the FCL Twins in Rookie ball. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Braves acquire RHP Jake Odorizzi from Astros for LHP Will Smith

Odorizzi has a 3.75 ERA across 12 starts in his second year with the Astros. Across his career, he has a 3.94 ERA and has made 20 or more starts in seven of his past eight seasons with the lone exception being the shortened 2020 season.

Smith has been a part of the Braves bullpen since 2020. He recorded 42 saves and compiled a 3.87 ERA in 130 appearances with Atlanta. This season, Smith has a 4.38 ERA across 37 innings. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Mariners acquire C Curt Casali and LHP Matthew Boyd from Giants for RHP Michael Stryffeler and C Andy Thomas
A nine-year veteran who has played for the Rays, Reds and Giants, Casali will add to the Mariners¡¯ catching depth once he returns from a right oblique strain. He has experience catching fellow M's trade acquisition Luis Castillo from their time with Cincinnati.

Boyd, a native of Washington, is also on the injured list, having missed the entire season to this point while recovering from flexor tendon surgery. The left-hander, who owns a career 4.96 ERA, was part of a much more notable Trade Deadline deal in 2015, going from the Blue Jays to the Tigers as part of a three-player package for southpaw David Price.

Aug. 2: Brewers acquire RHP Trevor Rosenthal from Giants for OF Tristan Peters
Rosenthal signed with the Giants on July 21 after missing all of last season while recovering from thoracic outlet syndrome surgery. The hard-throwing righty had a 1.90 ERA with 11 saves and a 14.5 K/9 for the Royals and Padres during the shortened 2020 season.

Aug. 2: Mariners acquire 3B/OF Jake Lamb from Dodgers for cash or PTBN
Lamb, a one-time All-Star who produced 59 homers and 196 RBIs with the D-backs across 2016-17, will give the Mariners another left-handed bat off the bench. He¡¯s hit .206 with 24 homers since the beginning of 2018, playing for five teams in that span.

Aug. 2: Orioles acquire OF Brett Phillips from Rays for cash
Phillips was designated for assignment by Tampa Bay to make room for newly acquired OF Jose Siri. In 75 games with the Rays, he hit .147/.225/.250 with five home runs. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Mets acquire RHP Mychal Givens from Cubs for RHP Sa¨²l Gonz¨¢lez
Veteran sidearmer Givens adds depth to New York¡¯s bullpen and has posted excellent numbers in 2022, with a 2.66 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 40 2/3 innings. Full story ?

Aug. 2: Blue Jays acquire RHP Mitch White and IF Alex De Jesus from Dodgers for RHP Nick Frasso and LHP Moises Brito
As the Dodgers rotation gets healthier, White found himself the odd man out, despite putting up solid numbers in his role as a sixth starter and long reliever. De Jesus was ranked by MLB Pipeline as Los Angeles¡¯ No. 19 prospect.

Aug. 2: Royals acquire OF Brent Rooker from Padres for C Cam Gallagher
Since being acquired by the Padres in April as part of the Taylor Rogers deal, Rooker has hit .272/.385/.605 with 19 home runs in Triple-A. San Diego adds depth at a lean position with Gallagher, who had appeared in 18 games with the Royals in 2022.

Aug. 2: Reds acquire C Austin Romine from Cardinals for cash
With Yadier Molina on his way back from the injured list, the Cards no longer needed Romine. The 33-year-old appeared in 11 games for St. Louis, hitting .154 in 28 at-bats.

Aug. 2: Cardinals acquire C Austin Allen from Athletics for RHP Carlos Guarate
In exchange for 21-year-old Guarate, St. Louis gets more flexible catching depth, as Allen has just over one year of Major League service time. He has hit .271/.349/.473 in Triple-A this season.

Aug. 2: Pirates acquire RHP Jeremy Beasley from Blue Jays for cash considerations
Beasley has spent the majority of the year in Triple-A, where he¡¯s pitched to a 1.89 ERA across 19 appearances.

Aug. 2: Twins acquire C Sandy Le¨®n from Guardians for RHP Ian Hamilton
With Ryan Jeffers still sidelined by a right thumb contusion, the Twins picked up the veteran Le¨®n to bolster their catching depth. Minnesota sent Hamilton, a 27-year-old righty with 14 2/3 innings of MLB experience, to Cleveland in the deal.

Aug. 1: Braves acquire OF Robbie Grossman from Tigers for LHP Kris Anglin

In 83 games in 2022, Grossman has slashed .205/.313/.282 with just two home runs and 23 RBIs. He will likely fill a platoon role with the Braves, as he is hitting .364/.479/.520 against left-handed pitching. He is in the final year of a two-year, $10 million deal signed with the Tigers in 2021.

Anglin was drafted by the Braves in the 16th round of the 2021 Draft. In two professional seasons he has posted a 4.24 ERA with 71 strikeouts in 63 2/3 innings, appearing both as a starter and out of the bullpen. Full story ?

Aug. 1: Brewers acquire RHP Matt Bush from Rangers for INF Mark Mathias and LHP Antoine Kelly

Bush, the first overall pick of the 2004 Draft, has spent his entire Major League career with the Rangers. In 2022, he's pitched to a 2.95 ERA in 36 2/3 innings and ranks in the 96th percentile or better in expected ERA, expected SLG, barrel rate and fastball spin rate. Bush remain under team control until 2025.

Kelly was ranked by MLB Pipeline as Milwaukee's No. 16 prospect and appeared in the 2022 Futures Game. This season, he has pitched to a 3.86 ERA with 119 strikeouts in 91 innings (19 starts) with High-A Wisconsin. Mathias, who is primarily a second baseman, debuted with the Brewers in 2020 and has logged six games with Milwaukee this season. In 50 games at Triple-A Nashville, he has hit .318/.421/.518 with eight home runs. Full story ?

Aug. 1: Cardinals acquire LHP Jos¨¦ Quintana and RHP Chris Stratton from Pirates for RHP Johan Oviedo and 3B Malcom Nu?ez
The Cardinals bolstered their rotation by adding one of the top lefty arms on the market in Quintana. A ground ball specialist, Quintana keeps the ball in the yard, as he ranks tied for fifth place among NL starters in HR/9 at 0.91. He also boasts a 45% ground ball rate. They also added Stratton, who has a 5.09 ERA across 40 appearances in 2022.

Oviedo has been an effective reliever in limited action this season, pitching to the tune of a 3.20 ERA across 25 1/3 innings. Nu?ez, who ranked as the Cardinals¡¯ 10th-best prospect by MLB Pipeline, is hitting .255/.360/.463 with a career-high 17 home runs in Double-A Springfield. Full story ?

Aug. 1: Astros acquire catcher Christian V¨¢zquez from Red Sox for INF/OF Enmanuel Valdez and OF Wilyer Abreu

The Astros have gotten very little utility out of their catchers in 2022, with backstops hitting a combined .164/.232/.306 with 11 home runs. In 84 games with the Red Sox, V¨¢zquez hit .282/.327/.432 with eight home runs.

In exchange for their longtime catcher, Boston receives infielder/outfielder Enmanuel Valdez (Astros' No. 28 prospect per MLB Pipeline) and outfielder Wilyer Abreu (No. 29). Full story ?

Aug. 1: Red Sox acquire C Reese McGuire and PTBN from White Sox for Jake Diekman
It didn't take long for Boston to find a replacement for Christian V¨¢zquez, who was traded to the Astros shortly before game time on Monday. 27-year-old McGuire, a career .241/.286/.359 hitter with nine home runs over 194 games, is under team control until 2026. The Red Sox will also receive a player to be named later as part of the trade.

The White Sox bolster their bullpen with veteran left-hander Jake Diekman, who has pitched to a 4.23 ERA with 51 strikeouts in 38 1/3 innings and ranks in the 90th percentile among Major Leaguers with a 32.7% whiff rate in 2022. Full story ?

Aug. 1: Red Sox acquire OF Tommy Pham from Reds for PTBN
Boston was busy on Monday evening, making three trades in rapid fashion. Pham, 34, was acquired for a player to be named later from Cincinnati in that flurry of trades. The right-handed hitting outfielder is hitting .238 with a .694 OPS and 11 home runs this season.

Pham is familiar with Red Sox Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom, who was with the Tampa Bay Rays when the team traded for Pham back in 2018. Full story ?

Aug. 1: Royals acquire RHP Luke Weaver from D-backs for 3B Emmanuel Rivera
Weaver, who was part of the Paul Goldschmidt trade in 2018, has appeared in 12 games for the D-backs this season, all but one as a reliever. He dealt with elbow inflammation earlier in the season, which forced him onto the 60-day IL in May, and has a 7.71 ERA. He is only a few years removed from a 2019 season where he set a career-best 2.94 ERA across 12 starts.

Rivera is slashing .237/.284/.399 this season with six home runs in 63 games. He's spent 85 of his 92 MLB games at third base, but has also appeared at first base.

Aug. 1: Yankees acquire RHP Frankie Montas and RHP Lou Trivino from Athletics for four prospects
The AL-best Bronx Bombers bolstered their rotation and bullpen in one fell swoop with this deal, acquiring arguably the best starting pitcher left on the market in Montas, a 29-year-old righty who is controllable through 2023, as well as a reliever with closing experience in Trivino (controllable through 2024). New York¡¯s pitching staff has been one of the best in the game this season, but the need for additional help arose when starter Luis Severino went on the injured list with a right lat strain and reliever Michael King suffered a season-ending right elbow injury in July. The Yankees also acquired right-handed reliever Scott Effross from the Cubs on Monday.

To get Montas and Trivino, the Yankees gave up left-hander Ken Waldichuk (Yankees¡¯ No. 5 prospect per MLBPipeline), right-hander Luis Medina (No. 10), left-hander JP Sears (No. 20) and second baseman Cooper Bowman (No. 21). Full story ?

Aug. 1: Astros acquire 1B/OF Trey Mancini (BAL) and RHP Jayden Murray (TB), Rays acquire OF Jose Siri (HOU), Orioles acquire RHP Seth Johnson (TB) and RHP Chayce McDermott (HOU) in three-team trade
Upgrading at first base was a priority for the Astros with 2021 AL batting champion Yuli Gurriel struggling at the plate this season, and they achieved that with the addition of Mancini, who also has experience in right field.

Mancini, 30, can test free agency after this season if either he or Houston declines his $10 million mutual option ($250,000 buyout) for 2023. The veteran has spent his entire career with the Orioles, hitting .270/.334/.463 with 117 homers. He missed all of 2020 while battling cancer but returned to hit 21 homers last season and has put up a .268 average with 10 dingers over 92 games this year. The Orioles are surprisingly in Wild Card contention, but the club continues to look toward the future.

Siri, a 27-year-old outfielder, is the only other player in this three-team deal who has MLB experience, having hit .210 with seven homers over 69 games for the Astros. Full story ?

Aug. 1: Padres acquire LHP Josh Hader from Brewers for LHP Taylor Rogers, LHP Robert Gasser, OF Esteury Ruiz and RHP Dinelson Lamet

An All-Star this year, Hader leads baseball with 29 saves, and has totaled 113 saves since 2019. That said, he's coming off one of the worst months of his career, as he recorded a 12.54 ERA in 9 1/3 innings in July that inflated his season ERA up to 4.24. Hader, who's making $11 million this season, has one final year of arbitration left.

In return, the Brewers will get Rogers, who has spent most of the season as San Diego's closer after the Padres traded for him right before Opening Day. Rogers started the season hot (he had a 1.64 ERA and 17 saves through the first two months of the season) before tailing off as the season has gone on. He had a 9.31 ERA in 10 appearances in July.

Gasser, (San Diego's No. 7 prospect), doesn't have overpowering stuff, but has above-average command and projects to be a back-of-the-rotation starter, while the 23-year-old Ruiz (No. 28 prospect) has appeared in 14 games for the Padres this year, batting .222 with two RBIs. Lamet is the wild card of this trade, as the righty went from getting Cy Young votes in 2020 to being sent down to Triple-A. He has a 9.49 ERA in 13 relief appearances this year. Full story ?

Aug. 1: Yankees acquire RHP Scott Effross from Cubs for RHP Hayden Wesneski
One of the best rookie pitchers this year, Effross will immediately slot in as another plus-arm in the Yankees' bullpen. The 28-year-old Effross has a 2.66 ERA in 44 innings for the Cubs this year, and currently ranks in the 95th percentile or better in barrel rate, chase rate and expected ERA. A side-armer, Effross primarily throws a sinker and slider, while also mixing in a changeup to left-handed hitters. The Yankees' need to shore up their bullpen became more acute at the end of July when Michael King suffered a season-ending elbow injury.

Wesneski, who was the Yankees' No. 7 prospect, has a 3.51 ERA this year in 19 starts at Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre. The 24-year-old primarily relies on his sinker and slider, but also throws a four-seam fastball and cutter on occasion. Full story ?

Aug. 1: Rays acquire LHP Garrett Cleavinger from Dodgers for OF German Tapia
The Rays get a slight boost to their bullpen with the addition of Cleavinger, who has spent part of the past two seasons with Los Angeles. After impressing in a short string with the Dodgers last year (3.00 ERA in 18 innings), Cleavinger struggled in his Major League audition this year, giving up five earn runs in 4 1/3 innings. Cleavinger has a 2.79 ERA in 29 innings with Triple-A Oklahoma City this year.

In return, the Dodgers get the 18-year-old Tapia, who is in his second season with the Rays' Dominican Summer League team, where he's batting .329 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 26 games.

Aug. 1: Braves acquire INF Ehire Adrianza from Nationals for OF Trey Harris; designate INF Robinson Can¨® for assignment
Adrianza is back with the Braves after signing a one-year deal with the Nationals in the offseason. A member of Atlanta's 2021 World Series team, Adrianza played in 109 games with the Braves last year, batting .247 with five home runs and 28 RBIs while being tied for the league lead with 16 hits as a pinch-hitter. Adrianza hit .179 over 31 games with the Nationals this season.

The signing of Adrianza brings an end to Can¨®'s time in Atlanta. He batted .154 in nine games with the Braves. Full story ?

Misiewicz was recently designated for assignment by Seattle after three seasons with the club. He owns a career 4.48 ERA over 104 career appearances.

Aug. 1: Rays acquire RHP Jeremy Walker from Giants for C/IF Ford Proctor
By dealing Proctor, who had been their No. 20 prospect, the Rays cleared a spot on their 40-man roster for any potential additions they could make before the Trade Deadline or when they bring back players from the 60-day injured list later this season. Walker, 27, was 0-4 with a 6.88 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 28 appearances for Triple-A Sacramento.

July 31: Giants acquire INF Dixon Machado from Cubs for RHP Raynel Espinal
The owner of a .227/.285/.295 slash over 505 plate appearances in MLB, all with the Tigers from 2015-18, Machado spent the past two years playing in the Korea Baseball Organization before signing a Minor League deal with the Cubs in December. The 30-year-old hit .312 with a .796 OPS over 86 games for Triple-A Iowa before the trade to San Francisco.

July 30: Rays acquire OF David Peralta from D-backs for C Christian Cerda
In need of a bat with so many key hitters on the injured list, the Rays were able to land Peralta from Arizona for Cerda, a 19-year-old catcher who was unranked in Tampa Bay's farm system. A left-handed hitter, the 34-year-old Peralta is in the final season of a three-year, $22 million contract with the D-backs, his only big league team to this point. The nine-year veteran has hit .283/.340/.463 with 110 homers during his career after signing with Arizona out of independent ball in 2013. Over 87 games in 2022, he's hitting .248 with 12 homers and a .777 OPS, including an .823 OPS against right-handed pitchers. Full story ?

July 30: Dodgers acquire RHP Chris Martin from Cubs for IF/OF Zach McKinstry
?Set to be a Trade Deadline seller for the second straight year, the Cubs got that process underway by sending Martin to Los Angeles for McKinstry, a 27-year-old utility man. The 36-year-old Martin won a World Series title with the Braves in 2021 before signing a one-year deal with Chicago. He has a 4.31 ERA over 31 1/3 innings this season, albeit with a stellar 40-to-4 K/BB ratio. Martin will add depth to the Dodgers bullpen as they await the returns of Brusdar Graterol, Blake Treinen, Tommy Kahnle, Victor Gonz¨¢lez and Danny Duffy from the injured list. Full story ?

July 30: Phillies acquire SS Edmundo Sosa from Cardinals for LHP JoJo Romero
Sosa doesn¡¯t hit much (career 88 OPS+), but he should help shore up the Phillies¡¯ infield defense, having recorded +9 outs above average over the past two seasons while seeing time at shortstop, third base and second base. The impending return of Paul DeJong from a stint in the Minors made Sosa expendable for St. Louis. Full story ?

July 29: Mariners acquire RHP Luis Castillo from Reds for four prospects
The Mariners made a bold move just days before the Trade Deadline, trading for Reds right-hander Luis Castillo, generally viewed as the top available pitcher ahead of Tuesday's Deadline.

Shortstops Noelvi Marte and Edwin Arroyo, the Mariners' Nos. 1 and 3 prospects, per MLB Pipeline, are part of the return package, along with right-hander Levi Stoudt, the No. 5 Mariners prospect, and unranked pitcher Andrew Moore.

Castillo is 4-4 with a 2.86 ERA and was named to the National League All-Star team earlier this month. Full story ?

The Mets made a move to bolster their depth for their third move of the Deadline, adding Naquin and Diehl from Cincinnati in exchange for Minor Leaguers RHP Jose Acu?a and OF Hector Rodr¨ªguez.

Naquin, who's hitting .246 with seven homers in 56 games, gives the Mets another left-handed bat after they traded for Daniel Vogelbach on July 22. Diehl has a 4.24 ERA in Triple-A this season and adds to New York's bullpen depth, which took a hit after Drew Smith was placed on the IL earlier in the day. Full story ?

July 27: Yankees acquire OF Andrew Benintendi from Royals for three prospects
The Yankees kicked off their 2022 Trade Deadline by trading for Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi. Three Minor Leaguers -- RHP Chandler Champlain, LHP T.J. Sikkema and RHP Beck Way -- will be going to Kansas City in the trade.

Benintendi is enjoying the best season of his career for a Royals team that is underperforming and out of contention. The lefty is slashing .321/.389/.399 with a 124 OPS+ in 92 games. The Yankees were reported to be in the market for another outfield bat, especially after Giancarlo Stanton went on the injured list this week with Achilles tendinitis. Full story ?

July 26: Giants acquire LHP Ben Bowden from Giants for cash
A second-round Draft pick by the Rockies in 2016, Bowden made his MLB debut last season and posted a 6.56 ERA for Colorado before being claimed off waivers by Tampa Bay in April.

July 25: Red Sox acquire OF Abraham Almonte for cash
A career .234/.302/.374 hitter for six teams over nine big league seasons, the 33-year-old Almonte hasn't appeared in MLB this year.

July 23: Mets acquire C Michael Perez from Pirates for cash
For the second straight day, the Mets made a trade with the Pirates to address their depth. After acquiring left-handed slugger Daniel Vogelbach from the Bucs on Friday, New York picked up Perez on Saturday, giving them another catcher with big league experience while it awaits the return of James McCann from the injured list. Pittsburgh designated Perez for assignment on Friday, less than a month after he hit three homers in a game. The 29-year-old is a career .175/.244/.305 hitter over parts of five big league seasons. July 22: Mets acquire 1B/DH Daniel Vogelbach from Pirates for RHP Colin Holderman
In need of more pop from the left side of the plate, the Mets swung a deal with the Pirates to get Vogelbach, who is batting .228 with 12 home runs and a .769 OPS this season, but with a .260 average and an .896 OPS against righties. After spending time with the Mariners, Blue Jays and Brewers from 2016-21, Vogelbach joined the Pirates in March, signing a one-year, $1 million contract with a $1.5 million club option ($200,000 buyout) for 2023.

In exchange for the 29-year-old Vogelbach, Pittsburgh got back Holderman, a 26-year-old rookie righty with a 2.04 ERA over 17 2/3 innings in 2022. Selected in the ninth round of the 2016 MLB Draft, Holderman made his big league debut on May 15, 2022. Full story ?
