We all know about the Cubs' infamous World Series drought, with the fabled ¡°Curse of the Billy Goat¡± finally vanquished in 2016. On Monday, an unlikely source brought an end to another dry spell for the franchise.
Carson Kelly -- a journeyman catcher -- hit for the cycle, becoming the first Cubs player to do so in 32 years. Kelly, 30, wasn't even alive when Mark Grace hit for the cycle on May 9, 1993.
Kelly's feat snapped the longest active stretch without a cycle for any National League club. The Royals, whose last cycle came via George Brett in 1990, own the longest active drought of any MLB team.
With that in mind, let¡¯s take a look back at the last cycle for every MLB team.
AMERICAN LEAGUE EAST
Blue Jays: Cavan Biggio
Sept. 17, 2019
Like father, like son: Cavan hit for the cycle 17 years after his dad, Craig, did the same in 2002. Even better, Cavan's mom, Patty, was watching from the stands as he raced around the bases for a ninth-inning triple. Watch >
Orioles: Cedric Mullins
May 12, 2023
The speedy Mullins always seemed like a prime cycle candidate, and he stamped his place in the history books with a three-run, eighth-inning home run. Full story >, Watch >
Rays: Evan Longoria

Red Sox: Brock Holt
Oct. 8, 2018
Holt is still the only player to hit for the cycle in a postseason game, doing so in Game 3 of the 2018 ALDS against the Yankees. That's enough to excuse the fact that his home run came off a 79 mph pitch from Austin Romine, New York's backup catcher. Full story >, Watch >
Yankees: Melky Cabrera
Aug. 2, 2009
Cycles have largely eluded the Yankees of late, somewhat surprising for a franchise steeped in history. Cabrera and Tony Fernandez are the only two Bronx Bombers to hit for the cycle in the last 50 years. Watch >
AL CENTRAL
Guardians: Jake Bauers
June 14, 2019
For a two-day stretch in June 2019, the cycle wasn¡¯t much of a rarity: Bauers accomplished the feat just one day after Shohei Ohtani. They became the first players to hit for the cycle on consecutive days since Tris Speaker and Chief Meyers on June 9-10, 1912. Watch >
Royals: George Brett
July 25, 1990
Eleven years after notching his first cycle, Brett did it again. And this time, the Hall of Famer needed only nine innings -- compared to the 16-inning marathon that led to his first cycle in 1979. Watch >
Tigers: Carlos Guill¨¦n
Aug. 1, 2006
The 2006 season included a number of memorable moments for Tigers fans to cherish, including Guill¨¦n¡¯s cycle. He's only the third Tigers player with a cycle since 1951. Watch >
Twins: Jorge Polanco
April 5, 2019
Polanco needed just four at-bats to hit for the cycle; for good measure, he singled in his fifth at-bat, notching his first five-hit game in the Majors. Watch >
White Sox: Jose Abr¨¦u
Sept. 9, 2017
Chicago¡¯s beloved slugger was never known for his speed, but he needed every last bit of it to leg out an eighth-inning triple, arriving just ahead of the relay throw. Full story >, Watch >
AL WEST
Angels: Jared Walsh
June 11, 2022
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Walsh stepped to the plate needing a triple -- and when his sinking line drive ducked underneath the glove of center fielder Khalil Lee, Walsh knew it was time to turn on the jets. Watch >
Astros: Yordan Alvarez
July 21, 2024
Houston¡¯s slugger had never hit for the cycle -- ¡°not even in PlayStation¡± -- before this 4-for-4 performance. Full story >, Watch >
Athletics: Mark Ellis
June 4, 2007
A bat for a cycle? That¡¯s the trade-off that Ellis paid to make history, shattering his bat on a bloop single in the 10th inning. Watch >
Mariners: Adrian Beltr¨¦
Sept. 1, 2008
The Hall of Famer loved playing in Arlington -- even before he joined the Rangers. Beltr¨¦ notched the first of three career cycles in 2008 with Seattle visiting Globe Life Park. Watch >
Rangers: Wyatt Langford
June 30, 2024
An eighth-inning home run capped the then-rookie¡¯s first career four-hit game and clinched the cycle. Langford was one of three rookies to hit for the cycle in the 2024 season. Full story >, Watch >
NATIONAL LEAGUE EAST
Braves: Eddie Rosario
Sept. 19, 2021
Consider Rosario a man on a mission. The free-swinger didn¡¯t waste any time in his quest for the cycle, seeing only five pitches across his four plate appearances. His last three hits all came on the first pitch of the at-bat. Watch >
Marlins: Xavier Edwards
July 28, 2024
It took the Marlins 30 years to notch their first cycle, but once Luis Arraez broke the spell in 2023, the floodgates opened: On the same day that he smacked his first career home run, Edwards legged out an infield hit to complete a historic day. Full story >, Watch >
Mets: Eduardo Escobar
July 6, 2022
Escobar took his attempt down to the wire -- he smashed a home run in the eighth inning and sprinted around the bases for a triple in the ninth inning. With the Mets playing in San Diego, Escobar also became the first player to hit for the cycle at Petco Park. Watch >
Nationals: Trea Turner
June 30, 2021
Turner joined the elusive three-cycle club, displaying his trademarked speed with a sixth-inning triple, losing his helmet as he flew around the bases. Just in case that wasn¡¯t special enough, he accomplished the feat on his 28th birthday. Full story >, Watch >
Phillies: Weston Wilson
Aug. 15, 2024
After spending parts of eight seasons in the Minor Leagues, Wilson finally got an extended run in the Majors in 2024 -- and he made the most of his opportunity. Arenado¡¯s most memorable cycle came with the Rockies, when he clubbed a walk-off home run to clinch it -- on Father¡¯s Day, nonetheless. Still, the third baseman joined the two-time cycle club by legging out an infield hit in the eighth inning. Full story >, Watch >
Cubs: Carson Kelly
March 31, 2025
It¡¯s not every day that a catcher hits for the cycle. Kelly became one of the most unorthodox members of the cycle club, and not only because of his position: He was also just the third player since 1901 to hit for the cycle while batting ninth. Full story >
Pirates: John Jaso
Sept. 28, 2016
Jaso hit the first cycle in the history of PNC Park, and the erstwhile catcher saved the hardest part for last with a seventh-inning triple to center field. Watch >
Reds: Elly De La Cruz
June 23, 2023
There aren¡¯t many players as electric as De La Cruz, and his cycle certainly fit the bill. De La Cruz snapped the Reds¡¯ 34-year cycle drought in just his 15th Major League game, while also helping Cincinnati win its 12th game in a row. Full story >, Watch >
NL WEST
D-backs: Aaron Hill

In 2012, Hill joined Babe Herman as the only players to hit for the cycle twice in the same season in the Modern Era -- and both of Hill¡¯s cycles came in the same month. Watch >
Dodgers: Cody Bellinger
July 15, 2017
No Dodgers rookie had ever hit for the cycle until Bellinger came along, easily legging out a seventh-inning triple (with some help from right fielder Giancarlo Stanton) to make history. Full story >, Watch >

Padres: Jake Cronenworth
July 16, 2021
