The Cubs are playing so well these days, even the geese want front row seats.
A goose crashed Wrigley Field for Chicago’s home opener on Friday, nesting underneath the center-field scoreboard. When the goose returned for Saturday’s game, it had VIP treatment: A staff of “geesekeepers” guarded a section of since-vacated bleacher seats, creating a safe haven for the Cubs’ newest fan.
Some fans even took to naming the lovable creature, calling her “Suzuki,” after Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki.
The goose also seems to have a little luck in it: The Cubs have won each of their first two home games, extending their winning streak to five. Perhaps it’s a bit of positive animal-related karma, 80 years after the Curse of the Billy Goat.
If the Cubs learned their lesson, the goose will be back at Wrigley Field on Sunday as they vie for the sweep against the Padres.
