A look at who is up and who could come next

ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays officially added first baseman Nate Lowe, infielder Daniel Robertson, catcher Michael Perez and relievers Hoby Milner and Pete Fairbanks on Sunday. In addition, the Rays also added right-handed pitcher Cole Sulser to the taxi squad.

With the Rays looking to make the postseason, Tampa Bay is expected to have close to 40 players on its September roster as it looks to remain as flexible as possible, especially with the pitching staff.

Some of the names that are also expected to be called up or activated this month include Guillermo Heredia, Mike Brosseau, Brendan McKay, Tyler Glasnow, José Alvarado, Jose De Leon, Anthony Banda, Yonny Chirinos, Blake Snell, Aaron Slegers and Sulser.

As the Minor League seasons come to an end, let¡¯s take a look at some of the players that have jumped onto the scene this season and some Minor Leaguers to keep an eye out for in the coming seasons.

Arrival: 1B Lowe, INF Brosseau
Both Lowe and Brosseau have played a key role at different times for the Rays this season. Lowe has provided the Rays with another left-handed bat, and hitting against right-handed pitching will be his role over the last month of the season. Brosseau has been huge for the Rays as the club dealt multiple injuries to infielders Brandon Lowe, Yandy Diaz and Joey Wendle. Without Brosseau, the Rays would¡¯ve been searching for answers and a good 2019 season has certainly elevated his stock moving forward.

Breakout: RHP Joe Ryan
The Rays have a way of identifying pitching talent and Ryan has certainly put himself on the map with a superb 2019 with Class A Advanced Charlotte. The 23-year old right-hander went 7-2 with a 1.42 ERA and struck out 112 hitters over 82 2/3 innings. Overall, Ryan has a 9-4 record with a 1.96 ERA through three levels. The big season landed Ryan as the 16th-rated player in the Rays system, according to MLB Pipeline.

Something to prove: INF Robertson
After a strong 2018 season, Robertson really struggled to get things going in '19. Before getting optioned to Durham and undergoing knee surgery in July, Robertson was hitting .202 with just two home runs after finishing the last season with a .797 OPS. Robertson still has a chance to salvage this season with a strong September with the big league club.

Name to watch: RHP Shane Baz
Baz was the third player added to the deal that sent Chris Archer to Pittsburgh, but he¡¯s certainly no throw-in. The former first-round pick showed off his potential in 2019 and has quickly become one of the top pitching prospects in a rich Rays organization. Baz went 3-2 with a 2.87 ERA in 16 starts with Class A Bowling Green, and scouts constantly raved about his arsenal.
