Mets No. 2 prospect Jett Williams sprained his right ankle in the Arizona Fall League regular-season finale on Thursday, but he appears to have avoided a major injury.

Although there¡¯s been no word on the severity of Williams¡¯ ankle sprain, Mets officials are optimistic it won¡¯t have a significant impact on his offseason, according to a report from MLB.com's Anthony DiComo.

Williams, who has been playing for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the AFL, suffered the injury on Tyler Callihan¡¯s leadoff double in the bottom of the first inning Thursday, bumping into the outfield wall while attempting to corral Callahan¡¯s fly ball to left-center field and falling to the ground after getting the ball into the cutoff man.

Williams¡¯ latest ailment comes after he missed significant time while recovering from right wrist surgery during the 2024 Minor League season. The 21-year-old played just 33 games and slashed .215/.358/.298 without a home run, spending time at three Minor League levels. Williams, MLB Pipeline¡¯s No. 52 overall prospect, finished the AFL regular season with a .225 average, two homers and a .758 OPS over 21 games.

Despite Williams¡¯ injury, the Scorpions won their seventh straight game to earn a berth in Friday¡¯s semifinal play-in against the Salt River Rafters. The winner of that matchup will advance to the AFL championship game on Saturday (8 p.m. ET on MLB Network) against the top-seeded Surprise Saguaros.
