¡°He got a pretty good gash on that right forefinger,¡± Bochy said. ¡°He just had to come out. He couldn¡¯t throw and probably couldn¡¯t swing the bat. He came in after the game and said, ¡®I¡¯ll be good tomorrow.¡¯¡±
The cut occurred in the fourth inning, when he was jammed on a Jordan Hicks sinker and split his bat lengthwise as the ball rolled to Hicks, who threw to first for the out. He played another inning at third base before he came out.
Nick Ahmed entered the game in place of Jung at shortstop, with Josh Smith moving to third base.
Jung missed the first nine games of the regular season with neck spasms and was hitting .282 with two home runs and seven RBIs in 71 at-bats after his return.
The Rangers are already down an infielder, with regular shortstop Corey Seager on the injured list. Seager has a hamstring strain, but manager Bruce Bochy said the club hopes Seager can return when eligible May 3.
