Tomlin returns to Braves on 1-yr deal
Right-hander Josh Tomlin is returning to the Braves on a one-year, $1 million contract for 2021 that includes a $1.25 million club option for ¡®22, the club announced Wednesday.
After struggling mightily at the end of his tenure with the Indians, Tomlin has enjoyed a career resurgence since signing with the Braves prior to the 2019 season. The 36-year-old has gone 4-3 with a 4.08 ERA across 68 appearances (all but six of them coming out of the bullpen) across the last two campaigns. Tomlin finished '20 with a 4.76 ERA in 39 2/3 innings, making five straight starts across late August and early September while the National League East champion Braves dealt with injuries to their rotation.
The 2021 season will mark Tomlin¡¯s 12th year in the Majors. He owns a 65-56 record and a 4.69 ERA in his career, and he helped the Indians reach the World Series in '16.
