DUNEDIN, Fla. -- Marcus Stroman believes he will be ready to start the Blue Jays' fourth game of the regular season on April 1 against the Yankees.
Stroman made his return to the mound with two scoreless innings in Toronto's 11-3 victory over the Canadian Junior National Team on Saturday afternoon. He walked one, struck out two and threw 17 of his 28 pitches for strikes.

This marked Stroman's first appearance of the spring, after he was previously shut down early in camp because of right shoulder inflammation. He's technically considered questionable for the start of the season, but Stroman was adamant on Saturday that he will be ready to go.

"My changeup was great, sinker was good, slider will come along over the next couple of starts," Stroman said. "My pitches are where they need to be, it's more of making sure my body and my arm is ready to go and they feel great. Just looking forward to my next one, progressing over the next couple of weeks and getting into the real game against the Yankees."

Blue Jays sign Espinosa
Toronto signed infielder Danny Espinosa to a Minor League contract with an invitation to attend Major League Spring Training on Saturday morning.
Espinosa appeared in 12 games for the Yankees in Spring Training this season, posting a batting average of .160 with a homer, four RBIs and an OPS of .596 before being released on Monday.

The 30-year-old is entering his ninth year in MLB and appeared in 93 games in 2017, posting a batting average of .173, with six home runs, 31 RBIs and an OPS of .523 while playing for the Rays, Mariners and Angels. Espinosa will compete with Mpho' Ngoepe for the final spot on Toronto's bench.
Toronto claims Moll
The Blue Jays claimed left-hander Sam Moll off waivers from the Mariners. The 26-year-old appeared in 11 games for the A's in 2017, recording a 10.80 ERA.
In five seasons in the Minor Leagues, the southpaw posted a 9-10 record with a 3.35 ERA and four saves. Moll, poised to make a statement this spring, pitched four scoreless innings with one save in four games in Cactus League play.
A spot on the 40-man roster was created for Moll after Blue Jays prospect Thomas Pannone received an 80-game suspension after he tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug.
